My great grandparents came over here from Kilkenny in 1908 I'm led to believe. Were they immigrants? Does that make me one? Am I a plague? I'm worried now. Am I missing out on a free house and lots of benefits? But seriously, we're all human. I think.
Oreyt lad ar tha goin,i think wat hes sayin is because the prison inmates are made up of a disproportionate number of Black people the judicial system that put them there is racist because there are not enough of the ethnic minority in the ,Police,Judicial system, Prison system, possibly maybe im wrong again, cos tha knows this lad knows some clog iron:nails:
Re: in what way in this universe was it racist... are yu thick or what Racism should be a two way street
finally someone who can see it in its naked truth that the 'ACE of TRUMPS' card that is played in the name of racism is the one that's constantly being played in Europe to the cost of Britain.
Re: finally someone who can see it in its naked truth As the independent studies show immigration gives a net economic gain. Could you answer the question do you want your country to be financially poorer or to accept immigration. Do you wanna bite your nose off to spite yer face?
Re: finally someone who can see it in its naked truth It's not all about economics is it? For instance have you tried to get a doctors appointment recently, or tried to get you kid into the school you want? What about all the traffic on the streets, the growing demands on the NHS, the rising cost of renting and what about crime? Lastly the economic benefits are very marginal and are only really due to American, German and French bankers who pay a lot of tax, other immigrants provide no economic benefit at all, in fact the opposite.
Re: finally someone who can see it in its naked truth Some people dont share your feelings Mr cricket Lib Dem MP Martin Horwood said he was "concerned about the tone" of Mr Soames and Mr Field's speeches Would he agree that actually immigrants can make a very positive contribution to our economy, and to our culture, and we need to take a balanced, evidence-based approach to this whole debate, and not use language that will inflame fears amongst minority ethnic communities in this country?" he asked Mr Field. The Labour MP responded: "There is not the case that unlimited migration of the scale that we've seen is such an economic advantage to this country as some of those proponents of open doors would wish us to believe."
Re: finally someone who can see it in its naked truth Agree - that's part of the reason why we need to have the debate properly in this country, without each side throwing insults at each other. It's Ok getting economically richer without boundaries due to a uncontrolled policy on immigration if the country is so full that moving around the country becomes impossible.
Re: finally someone who can see it in its naked truth Nar then DSL Although immigration was a "natural and essential part of an open economy" with some benefits, there were pragmatic causes for concern, he said. He told MPs: "In the coming 15 years we will have to build, just for new immigrants and their families, the equivalent of eight of the largest cities outside London... together with all their associated social infrastructure, of schools, roads, hospitals, railways, and all the rest." Mr Soames was backed by Labour MP Frank Field, who said that the government's bid to reduce net migration rates had garnered cross-party support.
Re: finally someone who can see it in its naked truth Dream dream dream dream don't you wanna shut the NHS anyway...
Re: finally someone who can see it in its naked truth Exactly - the population of the country is forecast to rise another 10-12 million in less than a generation because of lots of inter-related reasons (immigration, but also longer lifespans etc). The reality is that this is only a small island and we are already one of, if not the most densely populated country in Europe. Where the hell are another 12 million people supposed to live? As your quote says, that's the equivalent of building numerous new cities the size of Birmingham. One thing is for sure, in future generations, the concept of living in a house will truly be the preserve of the properly rich, because the country will be so full that in major urban areas only apartments will make financial sense. But hey, there'll be lots of economic benefits as well eh!
Re: finally someone who can see it in its naked truth Maybe what we should do is deport anyone with brown hair. Send them back to brown hair land where they belong. After all that's just as logical as blaming everything on any other particular section of society. I couldn't get a hospital appointment the other day someone with brown hair had got in before me. I don't care that people with brown hair create a significant part of the nations wealth I want them out now they cone over here shagging our chickens and drinking our tea. Down with brown haired people.
Re: finally someone who can see it in its naked truth Why take such an antagonistic approach to what needs to be a sensible discussion, that this country needs to have, about levels of immigration. You won't get any arguments from me about the benefits that immigration in general brings to the country and I don't expect you to find any in any of the posts I have ever made on the subject. Your comments above seem to be a response to a comment I haven't made. What I have said is that the discussion needs to be had in this country about levels of immigration and what is sustainable in a small country that is already densely populated. You don't appear to want to have such a debate. I'm off to bed.
Re: finally someone who can see it in its naked truth 85% of Britain is greenfield. And of the 15% that is developed, 5% is garden land.
Re: finally someone who can see it in its naked truth theres far more space in the rest of Europe, without us having to take more in.
Re: finally someone who can see it in its naked truth So what?. Does that mean that we are not densely populated? That we have room to double the population and not even notice the effect? What that figure doesn't take into account is that the total land area being included encompass huge swathes of Scotland for example, where the population is only 5 or 6 million and where there are only about 4 or 5 large urban areas. But the population growth will not expand out into unpopulated areas like water seeking somewhere to drain. It will expand in the areas that provide work. And those areas, if they are not massively over populated already, will definitely be when another 12 million are squeezed around the edges.
