He's got a point in a way but also not in another way.
The problem is that you've morally corrupt editors who will publish ANYTHING that they think will get views. They don't care how contradictory the articles are at all or about what the subject matter is. They don't just do contradictory articles about footballers buying houses. They do the exact same thing about cancer. Wine cures cancer. 3 months later, wine causes cancer. They do it ALL the time about everything.

Now looking at the two articles he mentions. One is by one journalist, the other is by a different one. The implication is that both are racist right?

The problem with that is that the journalist who wrote the article praising the white player also wrote the following:

Euro 2016: Why are we destroying England's Raheem Sterling with this gratuitous abuse?

Cyrille Regis and the trailblazing black players took untold racial abuse. 'To judge someone by the colour of their skin shows fear and insecurity about who you are,' he once said. 'Thank God we knew who we were.'

Racism - football can and must do far more yet to Kick It Out

Chelsea and John Terry make a mockery of the fight to beat racism
Carefully choreographed, sorry apology from club and player should fool no one

Just this weekend we had the Edinburgh derby....

    Also at the Spurs game.....

Both terrible and all involved should be banned for life. The Scottish racist was 65 years old. If he doesn't know right from wrong by now.

I agree with the comments on here but i’m A bit perplexed by the line that middle aged/older people should know better. I’m (ahem) in my 50’s and my life experience has taught me that the young are much less racist/ bigoted/homophobic than my generation and the ones that came before it.
I’ve not lived in Barnsley since the early 90’s but surely you don’t have a different experience in the town?

Speaking of racist chants, is not the Evans, "Fat Scottish *******" racist or does it not count if you're white?

    No it’s not got worse.
    Much worse decades back.
Wouldn’t surprise me to hear the black guy stood near them is one of their mates.
I don’t believe much of this ranting is in fact racism.
I think it’s aimed more at upsetting the player in whatever way they can.
Do we stop fans shouting yer blond ******* or yer ginger lovely person ???

Not sure the Scots would agree with you. They have their own culture customs and language which to me defines a race. Substitute Pakistani for Scottish and see how that would be perceived.

Sorry Simon, although it may pi$$ off the Scottish... it’s not racism. I understand that you have your own definition of race... but being Scottish is not a race. Neither is being Welsh, English or French.

But Austin you say being English Scottish or Welsh is not a race but if I called you an English cnt I would be prosecuted by the law with racism.
Hmm. Explain that to me my English friend. ;)

No you wouldn’t for three reasons.

    1) it’s not illegal.
    2) I wouldn’t prosecute even if it was.
    3) you’re probably right...

Since the rise of the right, it has got worse - I used to work in Rotherham & heard all the racist abuse by UPIK/Britain 1st etc towards black people for no other reason than they were black. The right have become emboldened & feel it is free speech to scream abuse at “Johnny Foreigner” - there is no place for this is a civilised society but sadly, we are becoming much less civy

Yep. Someone on this thread unsurprisingly blaming the Right Wing conservatives, Boris Johnson and the fact that we are "leaving Europe" for the perceived rise in racist attitudes. Funny that as I thought we were leaving the Political construct that is the EU and not actually the European mainland!

I think racist attitudes are no worse than they have always been. I do find it mildly amusing that the current generation hold up the TV comedy 'Til Death do us Part' as an example of the racist attitudes of the times. Whilst the main character -Alf Garnett - is racist , the comedy arose from the fact that it was ironic and a parody of racism. Anyone who watches it sees that his daughter and 'scouse git' son-in-law, highlighted the xenophobia and racism of the main character and juxtapose it. A similar comedy, around that era also highlighted a racist character - Eddie Booth - and highlighted racist attitudes using comedy as a weapon.
More recently Reginald D Hunter caused offence and an outburst of moral indignation by using the N Word at an FA footballers shindig. He was using it ironically, something that clearly escaped a number of intellectually challenged who completely missed the point.
The problem now is that , yes racism is evil and needs stamping out, but too often, (and I hasten to add that the examples highlighted in this thread relating to football and sport are clearly racist) the racist card is played too often and devalues and discredits genuine examples.
