Trying to make add up what people in the know on here have said and I can’t! If DS offered his resignation why didn’t the owners accept it? He’d already been critical of the recruitment policy. Then, how did they persuade him to stay? Did they promise anything? If they then asked him to resign on Monday why didn’t he? What changed to made them sack him this time? Could be that he engineered a sacking by deliberately selecting teams to lose. Could be continued criticism of lack of experienced players. Could be they thought he’d been tapped up.
Yeah I get that and again have no reason to doubt it was said, but it just seems strange that their relationship seems to have got to the stage where he tried to leave but he would be then be surprised he was sacked(especially as it appears after another discussion along same lines/issues). To me if I was at the stage with an employer where I felt strong enough to ask to leave, if I continued to have the same discussions with them, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to me.
The offering his resignation story has come from someone else. Daniel never mentioned that on Wednesday.
About five different stories from people ‘in the know’ in this thread. So basically we know nothing more.
I heard he got the sack for asking if we could turn the TVs on in the East Stand concourse. Can’t name my source.
Yeah, but both the resignation story and being sacked have come from what I believe to be credible posters.
If... big if... they asked him to resign without him having signed an agreement to discuss off the record, the owners have problems and I suspect the legal action isn’t against Daniel but rightly against the club. Stendel offering to resign earlier may well just be a very big herring in a Barnsley shirt
I m still at a loss as to why even if he was sacked the club gave out such a crass statement. I'm sorry I muddled things by saying he was off to Sunderland, in hindsight it was a language thing. Donald wouldn't be going through this charade of interviewing everyone if he'd been tapping Daniel up, it's too elaborate. My daughter who lives in the NE said there had been telephone contact ( presumably after the Ross sacking on Tuesday) reported in their Chronicle. One thing that came across on Weds night was that he wanted to stay at Barnsley. And it wasnt an inquisition of what had gone off as others have said but a time to show our appreciation of him.
Did not say at all mate that it was my opinion. To tell you The truth I don’t really have an opinion. Just think it’s a sorry state of affairs and I think we have let go of a great manager.
The truth will come out and also more rumours will too. The club is a leaky bucket and while we all like to here the inside stories its a shame there is no official info coming out.
legal action for what though mate? there could only be a contractual claim we know that he only has 8 months left on his contract if he’s sacked they would need to pay him up 8 months pay if he resigned they owe him nothing the only claim would be if he was sacked but they aren’t paying up his notice. As an employer you sometimes do this to force the employee to go out and get another job and reduce the exposure to losses. However there won’t be huge sums at stake (so no real incentive to do this) and it rarely happens in football because the standard FA contract works against doing it and football dismissals are usually pretty civilised because of damage that can be done to reputation etc Perhaps they’re trying to wriggle out of paying him his notice by trying to suggest he resigned first. If so that’s very petty. One thing that I surmise is that it has been handled appallingly and probably without any legal input.
i guess the terms of the contract will be the factor. Perhaps a reason why the was he sacked or did he quit question hasn't been answered formally yet.
What other combination of players that have been available would have been a winning team??? Not like we’ve got a bench full of championship ready juggernauts.
