Just seen that the ref for the above game is the same Ref as did the "Piggies Derby" tonight, Peter Bankes Thought he did well tonight watch that change next Tuesday!!
It was a fair achievement to ref such an ugly game without issuing a single card. You can't deny what Wilder has achieved with the Blunts, but I have to say that their physical confrontational style reminds me of the Pulis Stoke or Pearson Leicester sides that got promoted. While our game on Saturday had it's moments (Brown's ill-judged tackle and numerous Southend attempts to put our lads in the wall bottom) there was more flair and skill on show by a country mile than last night's fayre at Dullsborough.
Thought he had a poor game. He missed a clear cut penalty which would have changed the outcome - his job is to see stuff like that.
Interestingly he was the ref for Sunderland's 3-1 defeat at Portsmouth when they had a player sent off and a penalty awarded against them. That being said he's done us five times over the two seasons in the Championship and we didn't win one of them (2D, 3L) including the daylight robbery at Swillsborough when Hamill and Hecky were sent off.
Does anyone know if the massive Sunderland fan who reffed us against Bristol city last season and didn't send their centre half off after 5 minutes for a blatant red card offence has any involvement in any of our remaining games. I think he was called David Webb but could be wrong.
He’ll pander to the mighty Sunderland I reckon. Time & time again this season we have been punished for stuff that other teams do but never seem to get pulled up on.
There are one or two daft comments on here. Referees are not biased. They have bad games, just like players have bad games. The really good ones have fewer bad games than lesser refs. The only exception is Trevor Kettle whose every game is a bad one.
