Not me I'm afraid, I'm all for giving people the chance.......but recent results speaks volumes. He goes on to say "I think that I am getting the best out of them and I think that I am doing important things with them" Really..............
Not me for one. If the objective at the start of the season was to be relegated then it’s not a failure. Otherwise, it’s disastrous for me coz I want to watch us in at least the Championship. Would love to see us go again in the Championship next season and see what our new owners/ board backing would be like.
Perhaps he ment for himself given the situation he walked into, a case could be made for that not that everyone would agree. For the club? No it's a total failure.
I can't agree with that, however I was thinking on the way to work that it's maybe not that big a failure in the eyes of our owners (so long as we go straight back up). Not that I am in any way saying that they want us to go down but they may not see it as badly as we do. It they have a lot of money and are here for the long term then one relegation isn't going to make too much of a difference to them financially. However, it would then be much easier to market us as a club to fans abroad as a team that is winning and pushing for promotion to the second tier, rather than one that is losing all the time and languishing at the bottom of the table. Once we then get that promotion we can be marketed as a success and we can push on further. There was a much bigger buzz around the club after our playoff win and promotion than their would have been had we just scraped staying in the Championship all along. It's going to be hard to market us as a not very good Championship club, a promotion can be very good publicity, even if it's just back to where we were in the first place.
I am fairly sure he will have made strong statements in his job “interview” that made the decision makers believe he was the best choice to avoid relegation and a loss of circa £6m revenue. If his objective was to stay up, and that was the basis for him getting the job, he has failed. If they gave him the job and told him relegation was not failure then that would surprise me. He won’t be here next year if we go down. In my opinion.
I'd love to know what these things are that are more important than avoiding relegation. Maybe he's sent Brad Potts to broker peace between Israel and Palestine whilst Nick Townsend works on a cure for cancer...
Alright for him saying that when we are trying to stay up and this club means more to us than it ever will to him, who can piss off at any moment. I would say playing **** teams, finishing the season lower than when he arrived and losing millions in revenue would be a huge failure.
Mmm interesting idea. There's something to be said for momentum in as much that when we came up last time we initially looked world beaters. That was momentum from winning the playoffs. However, JM has clearly shown there's no drive in him and has no ability in picking the players up. The new manager surge wasn't evident either. It's all been rather flat. Assuming we do go down, and to me it's pretty much nailed on, is this the right man to drive us straight back into our natural division? I think not.
He’s a manager though surely no one in his position would piss off at short notice and leave his club in the ****
I can partially agree with that. However, the flaw is that outside of uk, nobody gives a stuff about the English third division.
Absolutely nailed it. We’ve American owners, they do things a little different over there with their sports teams.
