Rushden & Diamonds ground is currently being pulled down after being disused for some time. I was there for the Reds only appearance at this ground in April 2004. We won 3-2. We have a 100% record against R & D 2 games 2 wins.

It was a decent stadium for a lower league team.

No they went bust a few years ago. There is a phoenix club playing in one of the lower leagues. The last team to play at Nene Park was Kettering Town. The ground was situated in a business park so I expect the site will be redeveloped for commercial use.

That's definitely not the case mate, the altruism in setting the whole thing was something that should be celebrated. It was done out of an affinity for the area that housed his work force and with no prospects of a premier league windfall!

Closest ground to me and its such a shame to see it all end this way.

Used to go quite often in between Barnsley games and was there for that game when we played there. In fact one of my class mates came on for them as a second half sub

Walked around the ground a few weeks ago and it was still in a decent condition all things considered. Seems fsr too nice a ground to have gone to waste but football in this area can't sustain it

Yes, a great shame to see it go. I actually live in Rushden these days when I'm not in Burgundy and it still makes me smile to remember joining in with the song "We've no idea . . . how to get home . . ." back in '04, even though I only lived about 5 miles away even then.

One of my favourite ever away days that 3-2 win in Rushden. Or should I say Irthlingborough. I only just arrived in time for kick-off, having driven round Rushden for half an hour and failed to find the ground, and then when my mate called and said that the stadium was actually located in a village called Irthlingborough, my sat nav sent me into a field of potatoes. Literally, Upon finally arriving at the ground, I was convinced that it was just a leisure centre which was used for parking, and the stadium must be across the road somewhere, but that was actually it. I got in, my mate, who had been guarding the unreserved seat for me rushed off to get a pie. Returned, bit into it, and it turned out to be completely frozen in the middle. Apparently this was my fault.

This would make a great Half Man Half Biscuit song title.
