agree, disappointed we've released him. i know he hasn't played alot of first team games but the one's he did he played very well. the experience he was getting would have stood him in good stead.
already has haunted us in my opinion in the points dropped due to davey getting shut (sending out on loan without recalling him) and instead filling the bench with strikers giving us no options and no chance of changing games that have needed a defensive player to come on late on in a game.
He has proved he is capable but not given the chance What a stupid decision to sell this player. Why oh why do we make such stupid mistakes. (doh) (doh) (doh)
He's out of contract in the summer.. Maybe he wanted to go somewhere permanently where he could get first team football, rather than signing a new contract here and being shipped out on loan.
Pathetic Decision The first team games he's played for us, he's done really well. He pissed all over Nugent for 90 minutes and that's just one example. Never given a chance and another nail in the coffin of our useless and pointless academy. Leaving us won't be the last Rob sees of championship footie in his career.
Have we got any money for him or is he another we have just given away. I hope there is a sell on clause in the contract at least
Decisions like this make me question Davey's coaching skills as well as his management skills Management skills due to his decision to release him and coaching skills due to the fact that I believe Davey was his coach in the academy along with all the others that he have failed to develop to the required standard
RE: Decisions like this make me question Davey's coaching skills as well as his management skills Spot on Supertyke, someones coaching skills have to be questioned because it looks like the youngsters we have just don't progress past a certain level
No big loss............. If Davey thought he would turn out any good then he wouldn't have got rid. Never really impressed when he played.
Davey was at the academy for a few months Very little time to develop a player, can't believe anyone would critisize him for that.
RE: Decisions like this make me question Davey's coaching skills as well as his management skills For once I actually agree with you on something. I thought when we got Davey in as manager we'd end up seeing a load of academy players making the grade, but they obviously weren't good enough when Davey was in charge of the academy, and that's partly down to coaching. However, will all the people slating him come back in about 5 years time if Atkinson's still plying his trade in the lower leagues and admit Davey got this right? Edit: If Davey was only in charge for a few months like t. t says, then you can't really lay much blame on him, in which case I'll go back to disagreeing
he's now 21 year old and has spent on loan at Grimsby and was thier most consistant performer last season. This season he's been a bit in different. From seeing Atkinson as a 16 year old he had the potential to be a good championship/ lower premisership level defender. However, why his potential hasn't progressed to this level is a mystery. THere are many reasons why this could happen, the coaching set up, lack of self motivation by Atkinson, having his ability and phyiscal stature develop early and level off at 21, the reasons are endless. With him we have to trust Davey's judgement with what he and his staff have seen from his laon spell at grimsby.
I've been saying for a long time that he's a potential Premiership defender. To let him go at all is pure folly. To let him go to a lower league club for probable peanuts is just plain stupid when in 12/18 months time big clubs will be queueing up to pay good money for him. I'm guessing he's been "encouraged" to go as I can't see any player with ambition taking a downward step like that vountarily.
RE: No big loss............. We'll just nip to Bolivia or somewhere and a world class replacement to sit on the bench then!
I wish him every sucess My strong belief is he will be back in the championship in a couple of years time Problem is of course we will only remember how upset we are with Davey if that turns out to be the case If in 2 years time he is still in Division 3 none of us will come back to say what a good decision it was to release him I note that none of the other players that were cast off from our promotion side have come back to haunt us yet though to be honest there was only Kay from that group that I was sorry to see go
Good luck to lad Good enough for this division in my opinion too, can't believe we've let him go. Bad move on Davey's part (N) (N)
