I was pickpocketed in Tesco at Wath yesterday whilst stood at the checkout...I went to see security and they wouldn't allow me to see myself being robbed....I realise once it gets reported to SYP it's probably out of their hands...but before? ...any ideas would be welcome.
I think if you were to view the footage and saw who robbed you & then took action against the perp. Tesco could be culpable, maybe but not sure.
If it has been reported as a crime then the police are the ones who can give you permission to view it
I had my wireless headphones stolen in the metrodome the police were informed but even before that I wasn't allowed to view the cctv all that happened was the manager sent an email to a receptionist of the person caught doing it on cctv
https://www.gov.uk/request-cctv-footage-of-yourself As stated in the above link due to the possibility of u conducting your own "investigations" although technically allowable, its unlikely the retailer or the police will allow u to view the cctv. If the crime is reported the police may go and view it.....maybe in 3 or 4 weeks time.
I'll follow that up with them thanks. It's not really for me, I know the cash has gone...what really p***es me off is the fact that the same S**thouse would probably have lifted an old lady's purse. My old mum got robbed a couple of years ago so I know how distressing it can be. I think the thief must have been on the adjacent till, the person behind me in our queue couldn't have got close enough for the trolleys.
Once the police are involved, the CCTV is their responsibility. My son bumped into the car in front at a petrol station. All going fine through the insurance until the girl driving the other car put in a claim for whiplash injuries. Nothing unusual there, you might think, apart from the fact the daft cow wasn't in the car at the time!! She was on her way back from paying at the kiosk. Those pesky whiplash injuries - reaching all the way across the forecourt. Anyway, we involved the police, who secured the CCTV and she got clobbered.
you can view it for security reasons. i know because we have an ongoing court case because our management are spying on us all the time through cctv. if i go on about how much i hate them, ill say some vile stuff haha
Where I work there is the odd theft n' bump in the car parks. The only people who can trawl through the CCTV footage are the police on request if a crime has been logged. Even the security team won't look through without police say so.
Been in to see the management today, their chief security officer will be hopefully liaising with SPY asap.
Not if there are regulatory requirements (e.g. there is a legal reason to prevent it). Without which, the person doing the robbing would be able to request their deletion from the footage
