Chance for Jackson to show Hecky that there is no need to buy a top line replacement for the skipper, should Robbo happen to be sold this summer. An academy step up/lower league recruit might be enough.

I'm not totally convinced that he is the answer but he might just surprise us. If he plays really well in the next two games it might make things a bit easier.

Sorry to see his Barnsley career end on an injury. It would have been nice to see him lead the team out one last time this Saturday before he's sold in the summer.

All the best at your new club Robbo.

I spoke with him last night and he's not been told of any interest, he was wearing a removable cast but said its for support Ligaments problem..doesn't need to have cast on all time and not too bad an injury

Our skipper has posted a tweet on Twitter tonight :
" Gutted the season has ended ! But been another good year.!
Time to rest up and come back better! Thanks for the support uve been class."
What a man. Hope he resists attempts from other Clubs to prise him away.

My impression at the POTY awards evening last Sunday was that he appeared to have a very positive attitude as regards next year with Barnsley.

Based on your glass is always empty viewpoint. I have no reason to think Roberts will not be here in August, anymore than Hammill , Davies Macdonald etc
Its possible we may get offers for some of our contracted players but we will only sell if the offer is sensible and the player wants to leave
I will be pleasantly surprised if Scowen or Watkins (out of contract players) stay but I expect our contracted players to be here in August

    exactly my thoughts.
I expect our contracted players to be the spine of the team next season.
I don't think Watkins will stay, but I hope Scowen will.

There's a difference between expecting him to go and talking as though he has already gone.

Be reight, there's far more chance of Davies being here than Roberts. Roberts will be wanted by other clubs and Davies won't. I'll be pleasantly shocked if Roberts is still a BFC player on 1st September.

There is more chance of Davies being here thats true, though he is a decent keeper I wouldnt be amazed if someone put in a bid.
There is still more chance of Moncur and Mowatt being here as neither has done enough to get any scouts buzzing
Roberts and MacDonald are the 2 most likely to attract interest, especially given our track record of developing defenders but its definitely not a certainty as some one here are stating. I was responding to the posts which were talking as if he had already signed for someone else. I reckon Roberts is 50% as to whether he stays or goes, (in comparison Scowen is probably only 20% to stay and Watkins 5%)

Good because if they don't like a difference of opinion then the internet isn't the place for them. Plenty of times I read stuff on here I don't agree with, but that's the fun of the board. If everyone agreed it would be dull unless it only happened occasionally like last week people agreeing generally that George Williams should have been kept.

I hope he stays as he's a star player and if he proves himself another couple of seasons at championship level he can be spoke of as the likes of McCarthy, Taggart and De Zeeuw. But the way I see it is.......

    1) Will clubs come in for him that can offer him many times more money than we ever could? Yes.

    2) Will he want to sign a new contract with us knowing what he could get elsewhere? No.

Therefore the only sensible thing to do would be to sell him this summer. If we are daft enough to let him run his contract down and end up in the **** again next January then questions will quite correctly be asked about what lessons our board learned from this past January. Same reason we might have to transfer list Yiadom too.

He's going nowhere in the summer, nobodies going to offer silly money for him.

We'll have Chinese billionaire owners by then anyway......

In defence of BarnsleyReds I think his complaint was the way the post was written. its the way you would write it if Roberts had already signed a contract with Burnley - or you were writing about one of our loan players. Its not the difference of opinion - its the way people write opinions as facts that annoys people - me included.

Even your post you are stating as fact that clubs will come in and offer him many times more money than we can - its not a fact its an opinion, its a valid viewpoint there is a good chance that someone may come in with a good offer to the club and some silly money to him as a player - like Peppa got. but I remember reading that he was off in January for certain - and that never happened.
You dont know he wont sign a new contract -again you dont think he will but its not the same
I also remember reading that Hammill wouldnt sign for us last Summer. Maybe we will offer Robbo a better deal and he will sign it knowing that if someone really wants him we would sell anyway - maybe a 5 million release clause for example - who knows, for sure I dont

My points were just opinions. I myself didn't expect Hammill to sign up last season, so was pleasantly surprised. But he would have already had a good bank balance from his Wolves/Huddersfield days and realised his best times were with us. Roberts hasn't had that chance yet to set himself up for life and nobody can begrudge him doing so if he has the choice.
