A nice trip to Wembley and League 2 football to look forward to. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39179554
We never looked like we would go down with Robins and for that, I will always think he did well for us. Unfortunately, he wanted a bigger budget. It was a shame he wasn't about when we appointed Davey after he wasted £5 million.
He could do well there if they manage to get their act together off the pitch. I'd imagine they will plateau somewhat in League Two, a bit like Blackpool, perhaps challenging for the play offs.
I wouldn't count on it. They haven't finished in the top 6 in any division since 1970. I suppose next season theu only have to finish 7th for a playoff spot. I've never understood the amount of praise Mark Robins gets. We finished 18th in the league. But in terms of points totals, it was barely more than Simon Davey managed (I think his best was 57) and counting cup games, a worse record than Dave Flitcroft. Yet neither of those have gained any sort of recognition for their time here. Simon Davey for one arguably achieved more. I suppose this argument has already been done to death though. Flitcroft gained plenty of credit for the survival season was a great 2nd half of the season i for one really enjoyed it and the trip to the eitihad. Shame it went downhill after that but I dont mind flicker at all.
Flicker was too naive to believe that the players who'd pulled off the great escape were good enough to then sustain a good season the year after. That for me was his only downfall. Sent from space using satellites and things
The beer can't remember much of it. Just that we got there I suppose I didn't like the swapping shirts at half time ect ect
Think with flicker he was good at getting the players fired up we had a poor squad and he made them believe every game was a cup final. Once all the chest pumping went we was in trouble the season after.
You make it sound like it was nothing special. He was a dick as a person don't get me wrong. But gave us some of our best ever moments and plenty of players he brought in were highly thought of especially from the foreign market.
