    So are his wages 100% payed by the betting company because as I understood it they weren't? And had to count under FFP?

    My understanding is that Derby unlocked additional commercial funds by signing Rooney. I might be wrong, but it wasn't as if Red 23 actually paid Rooney's wages directly.

    For example, it's £500k a year for shirt sponsorship without Rooney or A.N.Other headline signing. But we'll pay £750k a year if you sign Rooney or A.N.Other headline signing.

    He's done a great job tbf, worth noting though that Steve McClaren continues as technical director - bound to have a big say in things.
