Mick McCarthy or David Moyes to Derby I reckon. And the merry go round continues. Rowett strikes me as a bit of an arse. Interesting to hear Simon Jordan (also an arse!) talking on talksport last night - Rowett is always courting other clubs even when just employed. The reason he was let go from Birmingham was about his attitude and refusing to sign a new contract and openly saying he wanted a different job (according to Jordan’s conversation with the owners). Give it a few months he’ll be putting his name forward for other jobs.
Can see why he wants to go there. Derby are the biggest championship chokers. They are always in and around the play offs, but hardly ever win them. Stoke with their parachute payments will give them far more to spend this summer. We all couldn't believe Birmingham sacked him. But now the same lack of loyalty that board showed him, he's shown the Derby owner.
Oh how they rubbed it in on the final day when we went down. Back in the heady days when they were in the playoffs and had a manager. You never have the last laugh in football, just the latest laugh.
But how ? He signed a new contract in January ? Then Derby allowed him to talk to Stoke. Once they do that then there is no way their club would let them go - unless the clubs owners had questionable motives etc ? Or is that just Barnsley ?
Rowett has failed to get all his sides promoted, yet Stoke feel that he fits the bill with his record to take them straight back. So the smart money would be on them failing in the play offs or finishing 7th lol..
