With so much interest I wonder what Barnsley could have got for him if he had 1+ years left on his contract and Barnsley had told Scowens agent that they would accept a decent offer for him?

Not as much as some think. I'm not one of those that thinks he's a superstar. Easier to replace than Hourihane, Winnall, Watkins or Bree.

So let's let all our players that aren't the very best go for nothing?

He ran around and tackled players. Pretty much what's expected of any midfielder tbh. He didn't really have that much influence in the Championship imo.

Let's not forget when we were promoted hecky preferred brownhill/hourihane he only played at Wembley due to brees injury.

He was then forced onto the wing with hecky preferring morsy/hourihane first half of this season.

While he ran his blood to water and would never shy away from a tackle he missed that final bit of quality/intelligence the Morsy/James/Brownhill had. I think we'll replace him and forget.

Seriously? One of our most important players last season. He'll be very difficult to replace if we lose him.

Agree with you fella, IMO he wasn't as good as some people made out. Alan who phones in to football heaven on radio Sheffield suggested in February that Scowen was better than Hourihane and that Hourihane wouldn't be that big a miss. Jeez look how that turned out...

I'm allus honest mate. His choice he wants to leave. Loved Conor but he left for money. They're all the same. Only Conor is worth it. As is Winnall.
Josh really ain't that good. He's been ok, but some folk get a hard on cos a player tackles a bit and gets booked more than he looks like scoring. Not for me.

I cannot believe the flak that Josh is getting .
2015-16 no regular place . Young and improving .
    2016 -17 still young and improving .
Played as full back , centre midfield (holding or attacking) , supporting a cf (qpr at home eg) .
I reckon he could even play as sweeper in a back three (like appelby)
WHO else in the club can do that .....

I think he's a player who will generate a bit of interest as a low risk free transfer but doubt there would be a queue of teams ready to pay a big fee for him.

Ran around and tackled and played well most the time but also got caught with the ball a lot doing that silly turn.

Not saying he was crap but think he'll be easily replaced

Yep seriously. Did the dirty bits of being a midfielder but no more or no less. Don't get me wrong would have been happy if he stayed but I don't believe he's irreplaceable like Hourihane was.

    Same old on here.
.......if he plays for us he's great........if he decides to leave then he wasn't that good anyway.
    It's ridiculous.
Scowen is a top player - hence all the interest in him.

Fair enough. I personally think he makes us tick nearly as much as Conor did but in a different way. Picks up a huge number of loose balls in various parts of the field, usually using it productively. Time will tell, but I think he'll be hugely missed. That's not to say we won't find a replacement of course.

You don't know what you've got til it's gone . Superb midfielder who gave his everything every match . It'll not be until he's playing for bigger clubs that we'll say 'oh yes ' he played for us . Superb player .

Or not until he goes to what he will perceive as a bigger club and more than likely not get held in the same prestige. Personally don't think he will pull up too many trees elsewhere otherwise he would have been bought by someone whilst with us.

To me, same as Pearson. This is his level at best. No way likely to be a Premier League (Reserve) team player.
