For me he is a striker. His Defensive duty was nowhere near the standard of Hammill today. Hedges is amazing going forward and has a brilliant shot on hin.
I can't for the life of me work out how he didn't get more game time last season when we were crying out for someone of his quality. Particularly when we persisted with trying to play Mowatt as a winger, who definitely isn't one. Absolutely convinced that this lad is going to be a big player for us this season.
I think thats a good point that he could really be more of a striker than a winger. He and Potts have got the look of strikers about them, and we might have really unearthed a decent one here in Hedges. Early days of course, but it definitely gives Hecky more options.
Post match Hecky's is saying that Hedges is going to get even better. Hope he's right. Their Manager Warburton said that is the best they have played so far this Season which could be encouraging for us, as until tonight they had gone three games unbeaten. They had 27 shots tonight but Davies played well and we managed to keep them out. We can only get better and as others have said hopefully, we could be OK this Season.
Hedges has a good instinct to do the right things (attacking wise). Think he's really made a case to be a regular starter. Competition for places up front is going to be great, with Thiam, Ugbo, in the picture, Hammill, Bradshaw Hedges playing well, and Isgrove coming back into the picture. Reasons to feel a bit more optimistic, surely.
I reckon with Izzy back in on one flank, with Hammill playing as he did tonight on the other flank, Hedges could be played as a central forward player in place of Potts or Moncur. He will always be a threat receiving the ball deeper and either running and / or shooting which will potentially free up Bradshaw from 2 CBs too Maybe along with McGeeghan alongside Williams - hoping he can be an attacking threat and be disciplined - and Lyndsey at CB team could be taking shape
