Just me that thinks this would make a huge difference. Don't need too much investment into it and would obviously end all the complaints about people standing up in front of them. Personally, this would make a hugely positive difference to the atmosphere at home games concluding with perhaps higher attendances as could interest more people. Thoughts?

Have a look at the proposals for safe standing (Google search). Its not what most people envisage! Barrier front and rear on every "step"; allocated individual standing position just like seats now; folding down seats to meet with UEFA regs for all seater matches. Its not a return to the good old days of the Terraces that only the "older" supporter can remember. Its also worth considering that a persons height is generally governed by the length of their legs so sitting behind a 6'5" "brick **** house" isn't as bad as standing behind them. In the old days you could just move but under the new proposals you cant!

Why do we need the unnecessary cost of replacing what we have already ?

Was the atmosphere always better when we had standing? Depended on how well we were playing and the opposition

Would you be able to sit where you wanted ? You would still be stuck in the same place - more freedom on terracing as you could move towards the atmosphere more easily

This bit isnt true. I was told Celtic paid 1m for their 2500 safe standing section (Incidentally they have closed for 2 games die to behaviour issues).

I grew up standing on terraces and they were great at the time; they certainly contributed to the atmosphere. Personally I wouldn't go back to standing but I don't have a problem with having a designated standing area for those who want to. I'm quite happy with my seat.

I have no interest at all in standing. I'm not short but I wouldn't want to be stuck behind someone and not able to see. I also like the comfort of sitting to be honest. I stood at a rugby match once and hated every second of it. People either side kept accidentally shuffling closer to me and were practically stood on top of me and I couldn't see a thing because of the person in front. I also just quite fancied having a sit down too after nearly an hour of just being stood in same place (it didn't help that I had no interest in the match whatsoever). I'm not particularly against safe standing for those who want it, dependant on cost to the club, but I definitely wouldn't be asking for it.

I'd like to see the introduction of a mandatory safe standing area in away ends. Would cut a lot of aggro

It certainly would away crowds can be terrible as everyone us randomly assigned seats.

Atmosphere was miles better. Hard to stay awake these days in duller night games with terracing atmosphere at might games was electric

Would you trust the stewards at bfc with a safe standing section?

Do you see much safe standing in your visits to grounds abroad?

We've had some great noisy games since its been all seater, and we had some flat atmosphereless games when it was all standing, and vice versa.

I don't think ripping up some seats guarantees anything. Our home fans aren't big on making noise until we go in front. Standing won't change that.

Loads mate. I've just got back from standing at Rot Weiß Erfurt in the third league. Stood on old fashioned terraces plus at stadiums like Dortmund which have the rail seats, never felt unsafe on either.

Would cost millions to install at oakwell. Considering we show the score on a 15" portable to cut costs I doubt it would ever happen

Atmosphere at games was miles better as if you wanted to sing you generally moved to where it was happening. This area then grew until a half decent atmosphere grew.
The problem with seating is that once you've blindly bought your season ticket off plan, you're stuck with moaning Maurice from mapplewell who tuts and bleats all the way through the season. This creates a situation where I spend my time at the match wishing diseases on his allotment vegetables.

Cheapest way for a standing section: Make it £5 a ticket against Millwall, let their morons rip up the seats in the north stand after we hammer them 6-0.

Half the job done for us.
