Thanks all for the answers; I have a few Samsung TVs and a tablet which I have been more than happy with (except bloatware, as mentioned above). Hauwei - I could be convinced, used my mates last week and it was superb. But aye, concerns about them as a business.

Thanks again, here's to a good win tonight.

Newer model always best S9 is best but look at what's on offer with S10 maybe nothing in it.Always try for newer if offers ok .my other half just got S10 worked out equal in costs to S9 she got £180 back for her old phone + earbuds S9 or S10 much clearer on display

I'll always recommend Samsung. I've a month left on a 2 year contract with my s8. S10 will be coming soon (I think) but if you want a newish one get s9 as they're stopping updates for s8 soon.

Well after a bit of shopping around yesterday, I took the view that maybe there is a bit more value in a 'lesser' brand than Samsung. Looked at phones from Oppa, Hauwei and Honor and ended up with a Honor Lite 10. Seems OK, Honor are a sister company of Hauwei and indeed the phones built in apps are all Hauwei. Seems this model is identical to a Hauwei one but for a bit less. Thanks again all for the input.

You should have looked at Xiaomi. Some of their top spec phones cost a fraction of Apple, Samsung etc.

I went to look at one mate and was going to buy it. However the shop had one left (Pocophone) and wouldn't open the packaging unless I committed to buy.

NFC and therefore mobile payment capability is a bizarre omission from the pocophone, given it's the company's big push into European markets.

I have the Oukitel K6 which I'm really pleased with for cheap Chinese rubbish but, having had to factory reset it once due to a software glitch, I'm acutely aware of the issue that if it actually breaks down properly, I'm rubber ducked.

When I end up having to replace my Huawei P10 I'll only be looking at another Huawei or a Xiaomi
