2 years we’ve tried for this kid and both times he’s turned us down, why bother going for a player that clearly isn’t bothered about moving to the UK? I am starting to get worried about our transfer philosophy, nothing imminent on the cards by all accounts which is worrying... what the hell are we doing Murphy?!
They're fighting amongst themselves trying to bluff each other into doing what the other party wants and meanwhile nobody's putting the club first.
Who on earth would rather play in the Croatian top division? I know we aren't MASSIVE but surely you'd rather play in the Championship?
The English game, especially championship has a reputation to be abit rough and ready across Europe. The lad might not have fancied it.
I share this concern. Doesn't look good we couldn't get a deal done and he ends up here. However, he is only 20 years old, England and Barnsley might not appeal to him that much right now, and with everything going on with Covid does he sign for a team where he might not be able to travel home? With everything going on I can imagine teams insisting on no European travel in case a 14 day quarantine rule comes in when you come back.
So much for him wanting to stay and fight for his place where he was. Not to worry as his scoring record wasn't any better than those we've already got here.
Nothing to do with him not fancying it, we just offer ***** wages. Simple as that. If it’s all we can afford to put forward then fine, but i think there’s a lot more to it.
Heard terms were agreed. Basically a done deal. Last minute change of heart and we tried to salvage it as a loan deal but couldn't change his mind.
Yep i was told he was ready to fly over and sign for us about ten days ago so something has changed his mind
Hope we aren’t ruling out signing loan players from prem clubs it might help us out in the wages department we need to check out all avenues.
Probably watched the first two games and didn't fancy being a third division player next year. When will we ever learn and get our business done before the season starts.
There's a difference in moving from two clubs in the same country, and moving a 3/4 hour flight away. Especially during a global pandemic. I wonder if that is part of the reason he turned us down, because the reason clearly isn't that he wants to fight for his place at Zagreb. Or money, that's probably another reason.
Some posters have said this was a done deal and he was ready to sign. Something obviously changed his mind. Just a thought did this coincide with the owners allegedly threatening to move the team away from its home in order to renage on another done deal? Perhaps he felt he didn't want to come to a club run by people who are gathering a reputation for not fulfilling promises made.
