Can ANYBODY tell me why ANY football ground needs an electronic scoreboard in the era of smartphones?

Its a bit sad really innit ? , can you not remember the old fellas walking round at half time with numbers on a board that you had to check in the programme to see which game the numbers were for. Just a question what would the difference have been to your day out at Oakwell today would the scoreboard have been working as normal ?

 

Is it not worse that the PA system in the ponte end is not working? Is this not a healthy and safety issue? If the need arose to evacuate it could cause confusion

 

With the scoreboard working I know how long is left in the game, I get to know the attendance and to see whom as been credited with the goal when an occurance like the goal in the Forest game. It also gave me a rundown on whose playing, quite a few newbies this season, because the Ponty tannoy is cack and undecipherable.

I dont have a smartphone or possess a watch and ar gert was fed up to back teeth cos I was asking for time updates throughart the match. So whilst you may think its a bit sad, I think its a bit poor from the club alreight.

I remember em purrin scores ont owd board on away end and matching the scores up wi mi programme.

 

And me mate, thought we kicked off at five past and didn't know why we were still playing at ten to, plus I never saw the board go up

After that the whole crew are useless like the tatty little scoreboard. Embarrasing

 

I think this is the main issue - I had to look at the club's Twitter feed for guidance on the time remaining - when they tweet they put the minute of the action on there. If we'd only been a goal up I'd have been more bothered.
