....... to join QPR. And after taking special note of him at the WELL I came away from that match thinking Scowen is Premeirship class. His reading of the game is second to none. Scowen alongside Hourihane. We lost a Premeirship pairing there.
He's a decent player that works hard but we all know that's absolutely untrue. No player would turn down a realistic premier league offer if they were good enough to play for a club they've no connection to.
I liked Scowen. He's very good at what he does and I'll always remember for what he did at Oakwell but he isn't Premier League class. Not in my opinion anyways.
Really? I watched Scowen most of the match and thought he was no where near as good as the last games he played for us - when I thought he was tremendous. He gave me the impression that he was really not trying that hard, and going through the motions - I put this down to fact that he had affection still for Barnsley. Nevertheless I still think he is a really good player and wish we still had him.
Unfortunately as good as he was in a Red shirt, Josh would struggle to hold down a regular place in a Premiership team. At best, he's a Championship player in my honest opinion.
Could have been an offer to sit on Huddersfield's bench? If he wanted to head back south then I could see first team football at QPR being more attractive, especially if the disparity in wages wasn't astronomical.
So he turned down Huddersfield where he wouldn’t start, to sign for QPR on probably more money. And back home. Non story
What does premiership class even mean? There are tons of players who have no business being there.. And a few who could play on a whole other planet, if they had the right agent.. And the requisite number of legs, respiratory organs etc...
Very good player who we miss a lot but no way is he good enough for a prem team I just can't see it. He moved sideways to QPR not even a top Championship team.
I like scowen but thought he was a complete passenger last week and if I had been giving points out for performance he would have been well below any of our midfielders even taking into account the second half capitulation. There are also 19 premiership professionals who didn't believe him to be premiership class to go with the one who did.
The whole ‘premiership class’ is ******** to be honest. Outside of the top 6 & probably Everton there’s teams full of players that weren’t & wouldn’t be outstanding at championship level. Burnley’s took 8 points from 12 away at Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool & Everton & look at some of their squad. Hendrick, Arfield, Ward, Lowton etc all starting. Honest pro’s like Scowen & nothing outstanding ability wise. He’d probably do a decent job as a squad player for probably 13 clubs in the premiership. It’s a bit of a myth that it’s some massive jump. It’s really not, rarely do clubs come down & go straight back up. Newcastle I think are the only one in the last 4 seasons to do it. There’s really not much of a difference between been a good championship player & an ok premiership player
Martin Cranie is a premiership player. And we all know how good he is...love Josh though proper player.
Becoming a premier player is a lot about luck, in fact so is becoming a player at any level. If we hadn't picked Roberts out of obscurity he would probably be a none league player now for example but he'd still be the same person
