You're mistaking strawmen with reality. Your either living in a fantasy world or stuck in the 80s .Just compare our prices with other championship clubs before you critisice. It's small town small club mentality . Our season tickets are great value and variants on them also . Some people just want constant freebies.
No-one is wanting freebies, just a fair match day price. It would seem that the season ticket price is getting in the way of that.
The price per match cost between a ST holder and an on the day should be much closer. The benefits of being a ST holder should be more off the field than a simple cost per game saving. Perks like a free match day programme, or iFollow subs. Maybe discounted away travel? It used to be you got free entry to reserve games. The way things are set up now, its either stump up for a full season ticket (at a discount) or have to pick and choose games because your £300+ is needed to pay other bills.
The club have historically needed that influx of cash each season. That need is enhanced when we drop into L1 due to SCMP
I'm suggesting the latter. It isn't certain that there would be lost income as we may make more from selling more tickets. It's not certain, it's a risk but we know these prices aren't working. We are not reducing tickets for fear of losing money but for all we know we may be losing far more money from having the tickets at the prices they are currently at.
Your post makes no sense. You were constructing a strawman argument by stating £10 yourself and then using your own made up figure as a way to ridicule Ponty as if it was he who had suggested it. No-one is saying that our season tickets aren't good value compared to match day tickets. No-one is wanting a 'constant freebie'. There's also no need for the fantasy world/stuck in the 80s comment. Debate sensibly and respectfully or don't bother. You don't have to agree with me, you just have to make sense.
I’ll virtually guarantee to you that we would lose lots of money if we reduced matchday prices to £20. Not enough people would be persuaded to come, not with our form anyway. If our form was good enough to bring people back in we’d get more people paying what we charge now... It’s results that matter ultimately
There may well be but historically we’ve needed to maximise upfront income in order to maximise the budget we submit
Fair enough. I can't say I totally agree (or I at least think that the initial loss would be offset by more people becoming ST holders after attending more regularly) but I respect your opinion.
I've said what I'd like to see tried (matchday tickets reduced to £20 with season tickets staying at a similar price). We've both responded on this point already though so there's not much point going back over it.
I just don’t think enough would convert cos not enough would come. Unless we were better on the pitch in which case folk would come anyway! Plus season tickets are even cheaper still!
Fair enough But the issue is no one wants higher season ticket prices and no one wants us to have an even bigger disparity in our ability to pay wages!
