I'm just not enjoying it any more. I don't know if the fact that i haven't seen us win this season due to illness is a factor, but i've seen us hovering over the bottom of Div 4 and that didn't put me off.. being skint doesn't help either anybody feel else like this?
Yep. I wouldn't blame anyone for not renewing. One home win since August Bank Holiday will do that to you. #notaproperfan
I didn’t get one last season though I’ve only missed a couple of games. Haven’t missed it. Due to mates going on holiday etc I think I’ve paid for 5 games and got a flexi that covers another 5. I’ve enjoyed the knowledge that I’m Not committed to anything. Can’t see me bothering next year.
I’m exactly the same mate. I’ve lost all sense of connect with players (except maybe Hammill), the manager and the owners / club. There’s been more times this season I’ve gone just because I’ve got a ST. The Millwall game I left at half time and I haven’t done that since the Keith Hill days. I think I’ve mentally decided I’m not going to renew and try PAYG. Even if it’s £30, that’s 10 matches. May have given up by then or look at a half ST in the new year. Sorry
Nowt to apologise for. If thats how you feel then thats how you must go. I'm in the carry on regardless camp but I understand and respect those who arent.
Count me in the 'unlikely' camp. Our problems this season have been self-inflicted and our current squad is nowhere near good enough to make an impression in League One, in my opinion.
I can see that. Good players show no loyalty, currently we are full of players that aren't good enough, nobody wants to stay with us long term so you get a connection with them, don't feel a connection to management yet and as for the board I am just glad Jean and James are still around. Let's not mention the fifteen quid season pass price rise for what could be third division drivel after a season costing 105 quid per home win seen.
I'm looking forward to next season whatever league we are in, I can't see the new owners doing nothing and making a loss year on year. They are business men and women and a team doing well makes money.
I was where you sound to be now about 2 seasons back, even during all the excitement of the run to the play offs and the 2 Wembley wins I still felt a sort of disconnection with not just the club but football in general, after over 30yrs many going home and away it was a strange feeling, I tried to fight it at first but going just sort of made it worse if that makes sense, forced really so in end I made the decision to stop going and I've never looked back, I still follow from afar through friends and platforms like this and still very much consider myself a fan but actually going just wasn't doing it anymore
If it wasn't for the social part of going out before and after games for a drink with friends I wouldn't see often I think I would have had a decision to make.
I am going down to Oakwell tomorrow to renew our tickets & come august I will be looking forward to the season , whatever league we are in , however , I have always said that if it gets to a point where i am not enjoying going to Oakwell, then I will stop , so if anyone is in the state of mind you are in, then pack it in , its not worth it .
Deffo renewing, the new ownership deserve some backing to try and rectify the errors of the previous regime. Untried foreign coaches notwithstanding.
Any habit can be broken. The club itself helped to break mine. I had a season ticket for 30 years up to 2011/12, but then changed from a Monday to Friday, nine to five job to evening work + alternate weekends. I discovered that the club aren't interested in supporters like me, the cost of attending one-off games far too expensive. I want to go more often than I'm managing to do at the moment, but I don't think I would return to making it a ritual even if I could now.
I sympathise with that view but also want to see where recruitment is at this summer. If it’s all lower and lower level punts no older than 25 then I fear it’s solidly embedded and won’t be changing anytime soon
Seriously never considered not renewing my season ticket since you ask. Losing games or playing sh!te football is hardly a shock. Mind you, if we played rugby league I'd still go. I seem to get off on supporting the team that represents my town and want to share some of the glory that comes with our occasional good runs. And I get a concessionary ticket. Fans come in all forms, live different lives and have different priorities, no such thing as a 'proper fan'
I'll be getting mine for next season after missing this year due to being skint. Looking forward to what'll be a fresh start down the 'well for me
I have been down this morning & renewed our tickets & was surprised to be told that my youngest grandsons category had been extended from under 17 to under 19 , excellent news & a big well done to the club for encouraging the younger fan
I'll be renewing, I enjoy a day out with my daughters on a Saturday. Sometimes a football match breaks out on the grass in front of us. Only sometimes tho.
