A mate of mine called their box office and got next season's ST that he'd bought in their 'early bird' offer refunded in full as he objected to the signing of Ched Evans. Said it was a two minute no quibbles deal, they're probably expecting one or two more I'd guess.

Does that mean he gets in for nowt, or is he just refusing to go?

Ha ha, he says he's not going until Evans leaves the club. Going to watch Penistone Church instead. Fair play, believing in something and backing it with actions.

Seems like PR suicide - we know this player (who scored four goals in League One), will be so unpopular that we are prepared to offer refunds no questions asked.

And he was charged with nothing Plankton Pete, was he not?

Plenty of footballers have been charged with breaking the law, he in the end wasn't.

Chedwyn Evans's in the court of Law's been charged with less than someone at Barnsley that some sing the name of.

I'm not interesting in getting into a big debate about it. I think it's interesting that (a) someone I know feels so strongly about a player with an unsavoury reputation that he's asked for a refund on his ST and (b) the club in question refund it without any issue......it's almost as if they expected something like this.

In a court of Law, he was given not guilty. 14/10/16. Enough said. No apology from certain critics at Sheffield United.

I could go and ask for my money back from Barnsley for next season's membership card. I'd be amazed if they didn't give me it back straight away.

Charges were brought against him. He was charged with rape. Who is the Barnsley player you speak of?

I agree. From a purely footballing standpoint it is a completely baffling signing and that's before you take into account the baggage that comes with it.

I've not checked our T&Cs, but it surprised me when he told me the story. Perhaps I'm not so worldly wise.

The verdict was quashed. He was still charged.

It was disgusting what Hammill did and I have been critical about it being on here. I don't make any allowances for how much he had to drink. I think it would be difficult to take the moral high ground with the club if you had a season ticket for the last two seasons.

Hopefully they tell everyone the ST numbers, be amazed if they weren't upon last year. Barnsley fans can say what they want. He got the result he wanted and should be compensated to what he missed out on. I think 500k's the max amount that can be claimed. I'm not sure the exact length he was in prison but 20k divide 500k equals 25 weeks. I'm sure he was in prison more than 25 weeks plus the compo for the stress of been in prison.

Can I just say, I don't think judging people on been in prisons the best thing to do.

Two of the best speakers in sport at the moment have both spent a period in touble and prison. Anthony Joshua (spent 2 weeks?) and Troy Deeney spent a summer 2012? in prison.

I think the thing that did it for me was that dreadful tv interview he did along side his girlfriend. It was so embarassing and did him no favours whatsoever. In fact as I remember it actually made him sound more guilty than ever. It was AWFUL.
Regardless of the Sheff Utd fans' reactions now, he is going to be in for one hell of a torrid time next season. Do you really think the Barnsley "minority" will let this slip by them?

Is that aimed at me? I wouldn't describe myself as judgemental, you've probably forgotten that I'm a touchy, feely, liberal lefty, I do empathy for a living mate.

Are you saying you'd have liked us to sign him? 5 figure weekly wage, 6 figure signing on fee and 3 year contract to someone injury prone, without a 2017 goal and relegated to division four. He didn't do it in the championship last time, and now older and with a go in prison he's going to struggle even more.

Also whilst found not guilty if you were a parent and he behaved that way to a daughter of you, I think you'd have a different view about him.

Not at all. It's something I see a lot. People judge someone because they'd been in prison or done something earlier in life.
