It's a horrible deal for the fans as well as the club. Even if someone can afford it why would they? Circumstances change in life like you could die or end up in such a bad way that you have to stop going. You don't know if you can trust them to spend your money equally over ten years so it doesn't all go in a year or two and they can't ask you for anymore for the next 7-9 years. It makes the club harder to sell if the new owners don't want to take on the offer the current owners have put to the fans.
Not even guaranteed the same seat each year, you have to apply every year same as all normal season ticket holders and if youre already a multi season holder tough, you can transfer to someone else and buy at same rate but not trade in.
Apparently, the Hillsborough hierarchy are fully expecting FA recriminations as a result of their intentional flouting over the FFP guidelines and as a result are preparing for the worst case scenario. As well as the imposition of a fine, the piece I read, inferred that they are anticipating the possible deduction of twenty one points. They currently have 42 points from 27 games.
If loads take it up and wednesday are no nearer the PL and the owners decide to sell, it could put off many wannabe owners off knowing there marketing strategy
That owner of theirs l is off his nut. If it don’t work out he’ll play the victim again for people to feel sorry for him. But looking at this ffp ain’t just the problem something more is happening
This is the sign of a club in trouble. When they had Hooper, Fletcher, Rhodes all on £35k per week then recruited Winnall on what was it £16k plus some of the midfielders...wow! I was trying to explain this to an owls mate but he wouldnt have it.....he just went on about their crowds! I left him without arguing but concluded that their attendances do not back up your player outlay on wages....it must be the commercial side that you guys excel in and left it at that! He has been very quiet since the FFP allegations have been announced.
That's the problem, every Wednesday fan I know try and justify whats going on there. They cannot seem to accept they're in deep trouble. I just hope the Football League come down heavy on them but I doubt they will.
I am not sure of the accounting rules in relation to FFP but if normal accounting rules apply, and they must for normal company accounting, all income related to future years would need to be accounted for in the appropriate year, under what is known as the "matching principle". Thus an offer like this must be cash flow related.
Have you not googled 'big club algorithm' relating to points deduction? Shamelessly not copied and pasted from t'internet: IF {club}=MASSIVE then: IS $club > than lesser teams THEN IS $club safe by >22points THEN deduct 21 points ON {LastDayOfSeason}
And I read in the paper (so maybe not true) that they enquired about a loan deal for Dwight Gayle who they would have to pay his full wage of £65000 a week.
I'd be tempted to get one of their 10 year tickets. Dead money for a while, but I'd be quids-in on stubhub when they get to Europe in 5 years
It's not dead money though because they'll buy it off you every year for 10% of the face value. The only risk as a non-supporter seems to be that they go bust or find some other reason not to honour the deal. Unless that wording means they'll refuse to buy it back if they're in the Prem, which seems unlikely because they could sell it for much more then. Or, as you say, you could sell the tickets yourself via a reseller if you wanted to take the risk.
Like Birmingham City, they couldn't go up and couldn't go down, so deducted 12 points during the season, which made no difference! A smaller club like us for instance would almost certainly have been forced to start the following season on -12.
