Then dependant on what is in Heckys contract.....the club can flatly refuse. Hecky is under a 1 year rolling deal which means his contract runs until end of June 2018 then will roll over to a new one. The problem is....is that if Hecky then causes a fuss about the club rejecting the approach (I doubt he would as he doesn't seem the type of man to do that) and then bringing a whole lot of problems with that in mind. The right thing to do for me is to just fob Sunderland off......give him a nice 3 year deal with double his money which then gives him job security and a wage to meet his capabilities.
I'd agree. At this point in time i'd reject any approach for him and ask him to see the season out. I don't see him as the type of guy who would take umbrage at that and, if he keeps us up, his stock will be even higher by the time May comes around and there'll be plenty of other suitors.
No mate as he signed it in June 2016. That rolled over to June 2017. Now he's between June 2017 and June 2018 if it makes sense.
I understood it to be like that too. The contract always has one year to run from the present day....
It may be the case that the new owners don’t want Hecky, and he doesn’t want to see himself out of a job?
No that makes no sense. That would not be a "rolling" contract that would just be a contract. 12 month rolling contract think more like a SIM only contract. You always have to give a month's notice. Well in this case either side would need to give 12 months notice. I.e if we sacked him he would get 12 months pay. If he wanted to leave hr would have to give 12 months notice or suitable compensation agreed.
Basically a rolling contract renews by the second, at any given moment it has 1 year to run. in Royston tykes scenario it would be a 1 year contract with the option to renew.
Not at all buddy. I just got my wires mixed up as that's how I interpreted that a rolling contract worked. After having it pointed out to me that it isn't.. ....i can now see the logic behind what u guys have said.
