Took over Blackpool with them 21st in League 1. Led them to their highest finish in 30 years and left with them 16th in the Championship. Took over at Leeds with them 9th in League 1. Sacked with them 10th in the Championship. Took over Huddersfield with them 4th in league 1, tasked with immediate promotion. Sacked with them 18th in the Championship. Took over Preston with them 17th in league 1. Left with them 11th in the Championship. Took over newly relegated Sunderland and sacked with them 22nd in the Championship just 2 and a half months into the season. I just don't get why some don't think he's the right man for the job. I think his reputation stems more from the style of football he employs, but we're in a relegation battle. At least in the short term he's exactly what we need. Something needs to change on the field and Grayson has bags of experience at this level. His worst finish in this league from what I can see is 19th.
I wouldn't be against his appointment to the end of the season. It'd be dour but he might keep us up.
He's football ebola: your eyes bleed. But he is the right man for the job. Good track-record, with Sunderland as his only disaster. If we get him, we'll stay up. Sunderland went for him because he is adept at putting together effective teams on a small budget. That sounds right up our street. My only reservation is that I don't know what his record of youth development is like. If it is negligible then he's not getting the job because that revenue-stream is what caught Chien's eye in the first place.
Grayson the man for me but we will go for a young untried manager from a lower level who will not quibble about the budget. An experienced man would know how much the odds are stacked against him, afraid its all abart money and we can't compete financially to get the quality players and more importantly keep to to be successful at this level!
Could do worse. Rather have him than most other names people have conjured with. Megson would be the nightmare scenario. Would rather sand down my scrotum with a rusty gatepost than listen to that man speak for ten minutes.
The man is absolutely garbage. If he can’t get a big club like Sunderland out of the sh*t then I can’t see how you expect him to get us out of it. If Danny Wilson isn’t employed then i’m not renewing my season ticket next season!
As the initial remit will be to keep us up , I do not think budget will come into it , we are out of the transfer window now & any transfer dealings can only be loan deals , which is unlikely to effect the budget over such a short period of time
He's 6 months younger than me but makes me look like a male model. I'll be able to console myself with this fact when we lose every week. Get him in.
I'd take Grayson no problem but with GG and the new owners I can see some leftfield manager coming in .
I thought you could loan again a week after window closed or is that a thing of the past or is just another senior moment I am having
There’s no way anyone can be against Grayson for footballing reasons. Done well everywhere except Sunderland where no one outside of Big Sam has done well in the last 10 years. We’re a very similar sized club to Preston with a similar strategy in terms of bringing through young players. Makes perfect sense
Short term deal , review in the summer . Grayson plus Carrick as player coach . Moderate wages plus survival bonus .
