What is the cause of half of the West Stand being out of action and will it ever be brought up to standard again?

On another note, I was at Oakwell last Sunday for a meal in the Legends Suite and the whole East Stand is suffering from a lack of care. Outside it looks shabby and in need or the metalwork painting and inside the Legends Suite the paintwork is a mess, marks all over the walls, wall paper peeling off. That is before you look out of the window across the pitch and see the state the West Stand is actually in.

Can't see why they wouldn't let someone paint the metal work if they offered. To paint in the legends suite they would be better getting a professional painter and decorator in especially for the wallpaper as I expect it will be wide vynal

What is being done to make sure the 13% of our capacity lost is got back? We've just lost a million pounds and posted a loss for the fifth season in just seven. We need every seat in the ground available to sell. Leeds for example had we kept up with the upkeep of our own ground could have been given half the west stand so they had less reason to buy for our home ends.

To be honest painting all that block work from scratch is some job especially for one man 3 coats for it to look something like. And from the clubs point of view once it's been painted once you have to maintain it every 3 years or so which again costs money.

I don't think it looks bad left I've worked on plenty of buildings where they haven't wanted it painting for one reason or another. If he did paint it folk would only moan they is paint all over floor and floors need painting now. I agree about legends suite that should be well maintained

So should the football stands. Why should the paying customer have to hang around in what is essentially an unfinished dull, cold, wet, breeze block lined stand? Other clubs have managed to paint theirs.

I notice the boardroom isn't bare concrete and breeze blocks.

One key thing to note though is that the stands are getting painted at the end of the season

So breeze block isn't finished until it's painted you think?? I wonder how many people paint their block work inside their garage! I come to watch a game of football I don't care if the block work in the concourse is painted. If I paid to sit in the legends suite that would be diffrent.
Another reason why they said no to letting a supporter paint the block work what about access to high level if he had a accident the club would get ******.

@Bondy just a small thing. East Stand mens bogs. Loads and loads of capacity for fat blokes to stand and pee. Then, 3000 sinks to wash your hands in. Not many people wash their hands though. Mainly because they are scruffs, but some probably don't bother because we have 2 hand dryers that are slower at doing their job than council workers on overtime.

The same in ponty end bogs, hand dryers useless, so I nick some napkins from condiments stand which isn't ideal. I refuse to leave them toilets without washing my hands.
