Not really. Bent is the opposite of straight. Black is the opposite of white, not n**ger. I wouldn't have used the word bent myself and it can be used with malice, but more often than not it's used in a jovial sense these days. It's not as offensive a word as n**ger. Depends on the situation and the tone of voice in which you use it and whether or not you mean to cause offence though.
If the Church of England doesn't choose to carry out gay marriage if it is passed in to Law that's fine but then they should lose all the benefits of being a state religion
how come another black person can use the term and yet a white person can, dont you think thats racist, or doesnt someone who is discriminated against because of the colour of their skin count and if i'm white they're black surely ??????
Dunt bother me either way............but I would not say Barnsley is any more homophobic than any other Town of similar size to be honest.
What about the beliefs of the church? Why should the rights of a small section of society take precedence over the rights of the church? They should be free to make their own judgement on whether they are comfortable marrying a gay couple. They have very defined views on this and they should not be forced to do something that conflicts with their conscience or the religious doctrines their beliefs are built on. This could end up a legislative minefield.
what about the catholic church, i dont know about the slant the jews put on gays, but i dont think the muslims are to impressed by it, so i think its most religeons
Which is fine unless it is the state religion in which case they have to be prepared to undertake the functions of the state. If the state decides that gay marriage should be legal then they should enact it, or separate themselves from its patronage. As it should be.
its not the marriage thing that bothers me its only a bit of paper ( and i've had 2) its the fact that if you call a gay person bent then its offensive but if a gay calls a hetro straight why isnt them slant put on it. in the case of some gays they call hetros "breeders", what happens if you're medically unable to have children, does that make it ok to follow a monpede up the road shouting "Oi, longjohn"
I'm constantly amazed what the administrators of this forum allow to be published and what posts they consider worthy of tweeting to a wider audience...
The state should not be dictating to the church in matters that are fundamental to their beliefs. We would not let it happen the other way around.
True.. I think most opposition to gay marriage has something to do with either religion or tradition or some b@llocks.
This gay marriage mullarkey..............its not about equality (which is what the politicians are saying)...................it is about widening the electorate in readiness for extra votes. If anything is "bent" in all of this, it's the politicians. Bent as Butcher's hooks.
Well It'd make it easier for me to understand your lust to oppress people. Given you're not a practising Christian your bigotry must come from somewhere else. If the decision was down to you, and either way the decision excluded any possibility of the church having to perform them, would you legalise?
