Not the best draw for either Champ team but Blackpool will see it differently.

Definitely. We get prize money for each round we get through and Blackburn are definitely a beatable side which puts us in the hat for the 5th round just one match away from the quarter finals

Another side where fans boycott games.

    That should be incentive enough.

Is it just me who thinks that the way they list the prize money makes no sense?

I've always wondered are those the totals you get or for each round? So if we beat Blackpool and Blackburn do we get £157,500 in total or just £90,000?

I think you get prize money after every round

That's what I thought it would be but then it is written in a very strange way.

It tells you what you get for winning the semi final and then tells you what you get for losing the final and they're both exactly the same. Surely they would just list the one thing if that's how it worked.

If it is how we assume it is then shouldn't this

    Semi-Final winners (2) £900,000
    Final runners-up (1) £900,000
    Final winners (1) £1,800,000

    Be written like this?

    Semi-Final winners (2) £1,800,000
    Final winners (1) £900,000

I doubt Blackpool fans will be bothered one way or the other as most of them probably won't attend.

No because I'd rather play Rotherham on a Saturday. Selfish reasons.

The prize money demonstrates the issue here. We were told often enough that relegation from the Championship turned us from a £10M turnover business into a £5M turnover business. The prize for winning the FA Cup is only £1.8M. We have the problem in January of one or two of our better players being eyed up by potential suitors. An attritional game against Blackpool on a wintry evening just might cost us if we were to pick up injuries or suspensions. And ditto Blackburn. We are doing well, but not quite yet safe. If you want a reminder of how quickly things can change just ask a Rotherham fan. For me, Hecky should take the Eddie Howe route and field 11 squad/U23 players for the replay. It's not an important game at this pivotal stage of the season, and there's no lucrative tie beyond it.

Blackburn is a winnable game. Obviously we've got to beat Blackpool first.

Then we've the chance of a big game in the 5th round or another potentially winnable tie to give us a chance at the quarter finals.

In terms of money, surely prize isn't all there is to it? For example gates if we get Arsenal away, or TV money for Semi finals/Barnsley V non league quarter final.

A good run can breed success as we showed last year. Win retain momentum and confidence and move forward. Lose against moderate opposition and the doubts could creep in.
