Pleased with that. For me its the one transfer that makes sense. I'd have sooner seen Turnbull leave that Berry, Lalkovic or Bailey down to the fact he's not worth the wage he will be getting.
I dont mind if he goes as long as we get a fee, he's probably our top earner. Also looks like he fancies Davies as number 1
Davies did well but nowhere near as good as some folk make out. Also concerning that Turnbull is our oldest player at the age of 30. This squad is desperately lacking some guile and know-how.
I agree we lack experience. For me we need a striker, centre mid and fullback all 26 plus with a good amount of appearances under there belt. Obviously they have to be able to play a bit too.
Whilst I agree the a move away makes sense for Turnbull, have we enough confidence in the likely back up to go into the new season? Should Davies get injured on the opening day, can Dibble adequately step up do we think? Just concerning that whilst I understand the rationale behind Ross leaving the club, we seem very happy to further weaken the squad in a crucial area. I disagree with LJ regarding needing four new players, I think we need about seven to be competitiive. So fair play if Turnbull goes somewhere, it's a logical move. But it further weakens us and that worries me greatly.
If Davies is injured we could get a loan keeper in, it seems easy enough to do, we've never struggled to find one in the past. Not ideal but if it saves a huge wage being sat on the bench every week I think we should do it.
The percentage of clean sheets kept in his appearances was very encouraging. Definately has to be our number one for the new season. Whatever happened to players having to live x amount of miles from the ground......
From the sounds of it a lot of our players live outside that distance. Ben will probably give whitey a call to tell him that they all live in the west stand or summat though so its all good
Always felt that the 'live within so many miles' thing was ridiculous. Surely it's up to an employee (who will probably only be working for the company for 1-3 years) to decide where he buys a house!
It is up to the employee but then it is a perfectly reasonable question to ask at an interview 'how will you get to work each day' and answering that it's a 2 hour drive isn't likely to get you the job. People turn potential employees down for their travel arrangements all the time. The problem is like you said, its only a short term job so not wanting to move is understandable. And the ironic thing is that they forced the player most commited to the barnsley town and way of life out of the club before making the announcement
You do nowt but moan about stuff at the club, and yet you're mocking my efforts to get answers to questions? Why don't you email him? They are wanting a couple more on the engagement forum panel. Or do you just moan for the sake of it?
I'm not mocking your efforts at all. It was more mocking the fact that the club and in particular ben are very good at spin. I only mentioned you because you're the person who gets the gossip (that's a good thing)
