If the head coach or manager or whatever you want to call him is NOT identying players that he needs then that would be like an orthopaedic surgeon having his working tools supplied by a plumber. Doesn’t happen!!!
I'm sure it's very similar ie coach: "Hi suits .....i need to recruit a goalkeeper" I thought of this guy. suits: "Leave it with us old lad" #Then suits consult their Oracle (spreadsheet) and inform coach...of which ones THEY have identified.
They may go on to say that even though you have identified the need for a goalkeeper we will give you a midfielder instead. Any problem ?... good.
If he signed a 2 year contract 24 Months ago (for example) he could have been paid for that 2 years, despite not being required to do the job after 9 months, for example. I have no idea, that's just a guess that would make sense.
Think there’s an element of truth in it though YN . We have a recruitment team to identify players and the coach then coaches said players to improve them and sell on . My problem with this process is if every success story is sold how the fook does the club progress up the leagues ! The owners don’t need the money so I’m not sure what the ultimate goal fit the club is . The only way they’ll make a significant return on their money is to gatecrash the greed league , the only problem with getting there is it’s impossible to do it without spending !
What's your opinion after Ganaye's interview? https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2018/june/gg-interview/ "The last months of the season we had been working on the two different scenarios between League One and the Championship, we were all hoping we would use the Championship one but unfortunately it was League One. But, we were prepared for this and we had a list of different player targets for each division we may have been in, we were prepared." Players were identified weeks and months before we even appointed the manager.
I'm giving Davies a totally clean slate in league one, not that I criticised him last season. I think he and Walton will easily be good enough to challenge for the keepers spot.
I don’t understand why people would have an issue with that statement. It’s called planning and is as sim0le as “ if we get relegated then X,Y &Z will leave, who can we recruit to replace”. Just because players were identified, doesn’t mean they have been signed or even approached just means the spreadsheet is in operation. I’d be more concerned if the statement said we didn’t have a clue what to do so we crossed our fingers and hoped!!
