On hols at the mo. Yesterday by chance met a guy from Paisley who’s a season ticket holder at St. Mirren. Asked where I’m from, then do I support the Reds? Went on to tell me how well Stevie Mallan’s thought of up there and asked why he can’t get a sniff with the first team. Said I’ve no idea. Does anyone else have any info on how Stevie’s progressing?
Hecky volunteered info about him playing for Scotland U20's, I reckon he's getting close to a first team squad spot
i was up at St Mirren Park a couple of weeks after the transfer and they were full of how good he was and they were looking forward to seeing him being a success down here.
From the couple of U23s and the friendlies I saw him in he looks a neat and tidy player. It looks like he just needed a bit of time to adjust to physicality/pace as well as a huge step up in quality. Provided he's got the right attitude and works hard with Hecky and team (sure he will have) then imagine Hecky will start slowly integrating him into squad/team. Very similar to when Hedges joined, and Thiam. But the step up for Mallan, in such an important position, was a big one. Sure given time he'll be a cracking little player. Set plays alone will be usefull as we waste too many free kicks and corners.
Don't forget the guys here for 3 years if he sees out his contract. His opportunity will arise, just at present there's others ahead of him.
