We could beat them anyway. Maybe theyve got a Jordan Green or Callum Styles waiting in the wings Think Flanagan and Watmore are the ones the fans will miss the most.
I am sceptical that all five are unavailable. Could well be pillocking and are trying to lull us into a feeling of false security. I'll believe it when I see their team cross the white line tomorrow.
My only concern about any of their players is that they have one or two with experience in the dark arts of football. Our young lads will be targeted by their older heads and a weak referee will fail to act or, even worse, award them a dodgy penalty and plenty of undeserved free kicks. It's going to be a test of character tomorrow night, not footballing skills. Even with our absentees we are better than anyone else in this league football-wise but I fear for our manning up to the cheats ability.
Our defenders just need to stay on their feet. McGeady’s likely to go down if someone comes within a 2 mile radius in the box, so don’t dive in. If he gets a shot away then we’ve got one of the best stoppers in this league between the sticks.
True but I once twisted my ankle and managed to play after a jab and a heavy crepe bandage was applied. I knew about it when it wore off mind, because I was out for longer than I should have been had I not risked playing with the injury in the first place.
His name is Peter Bankes and he lives on Merseyside. Looks to have a lot of experience in the Championship. He's had three games in League One. He refereed Fleetwood against Luton in February and issued seven yellow cards. He also officiated in Portsmouths 3-1 win against Sunderland in December 2018 and in that game, he doled out one red card and four yellows. In August 2018 he gave out two yellows in Burtons 1-0 home win against Doncaster Rovers.
I believe Bankes was the referee at Hillsborough for the Hammill/Hutchinson incident that saw Hammill (and Heckingbottom) sent off.
Just had a look at the Sunderland squad. They've got thirty four registered players the majority of whom look to have " experience". They should therefore have the capability of fielding a decent team, irrespective of who is ruled out of tomorrow's game due to concussion/ and or injury.
