I see with interest that Sunderland have today made their CEO redundant , that effectively means there will be no CEO position at Sunderland , yet a lot of fans feel the CEO is responsible for everything . It will be interesting to monitor how they now run their day to day operation.
The new owner of Sunderland looks set to re-appoint Chris Coleman as well. Frank Lampard is being tipped as a strong favourite for the Ipswich job, Gary Rowett looks as though he's leaving Derby for Stoke and Wilder has committed his future to Sheffield United by signing a new and improved three year contract.
Think they are going back to basics. They've still got parachute payments and now a clean slate. They could do a Southampton and Leicester and get two promotions on the bounce. The new owner isn't a dummy, think the big earners there are in for a shock. He's used to getting his hands dirty and fair few egos may get bruised in the coming weeks. He's been dealing with lower league lads who have a bit of grit about em. Hopefully he does it all publicly would be refreshing to see high earning lay abouts get dressed down. The fans must be sick to death of seeing lazy non committed players week in week out.
They don't need a CEO if the owners are taking a hands on approach and effectively performing the remit of a CEO. Its not a listed company, so no absolute reason to have that position.
Have a listen to the Roker Rapport’s latest podcast. The 2 new owners are on their for an hour and they sound bang on, whether they deliver or not is another matter but they’ve made a decent start
Article I read says the new owner Stewart Donald has three candidates in mind, namely Jack Ross, Michael Appleton and Coleman. Regarding the big earners at the Club, he said " the pis* take party ends now". People will come here now on the appropriate salaries and because they want to play for one of the best clubs in the world. The organisation has been used to failure for so long. I've taken a £40 million hit ( cost of clearing the debts) not to make money, but because I love football. The new culture will be based on hard work, value for money and people not taking the Mickey. We want people getting and giving 100%. The potential at this Club is massive. It's not been looked after properly in the past. My ambition is to see it back in the Premiership in two years."
If I were a Sunderland fan I would make damn sure I was one of those 20k with a ST as well. No matter that they are in L1, playing happy winning football gets you smiling no matter what the level. I reckon, with their resources compared to the rest of the division, they have only to get it a little bit right and they are looking at a 100 points season coming up.
Any new owners can talk a good game.... Let’s see what happens when their bonkers fans are demanding big name signings.....
They've already said hat on they plan to outspend everyone in the league and buy promotion which to me shows that they have not learned one thing and are idiots
If you have £20m and spend £40m that's daft. If you have £40m and spend £40m that's outspending everyone in the league to gain advantage.
