I cannot help thinking that Swansea being pretty much nailed-on for the drop means that Mawson will definitely be sold, they are no mugs at Swansea and will hold out for top dollar for him. I understand we have a sell-on for him, so the sooner he departs, the better it is for us.

    What are peoples' thoughts?

If we get a sell on from £20 - £25 million, we're absolutely laughing.

Do we officially have a sell-on clause ?

I can't see him going for a lot if they go down. To get on in football you need to be at a high performing club.
That's why our team was attacked by vultures in 2016/7 & why we won't be raided this January for anyone IMHO.

He's a good player, but lower premiership at best at the minute. They may choose to keep him for a championship campaign.
At best a promoted club / survivor may take him, if they want to offload. Can't see any big dollar.

Like Alfie. Good player. Like most that moved on he could have done better career wise, but we were paying peanuts & now we have monkeys.

Some of our monkeys will come good, don't get me wrong, but we are going backwards at the minute. Anyone who denies that & I include YTBFC in this is in denial. I understand you have to toe the party line, but we can all see there have been major mistakes, like signing a host of average attacking midfielders & having nothing up front, other than a competent finisher, who is getting zero service.

Selby Red and Kettlewell like this.

Yes, every player we have sold in the last couple of year has a sell on.

Mawson is struggling to be Premiership level.

£25million indicates how much football lives in a warped world of its own. Nothing else.

Couldn't agree more. Ironically, at the time it comes good for us, we probably can live without it.

Any money in helps with regards “working within our budget”. The money can be spent on wages without meaning we work outside of our budget. £3m will give us about £20k a week extra wages over a 3 year contract. Sure we can tempt a couple of decent players in with that.
