Williams for Mallan yet Moncur still plays? Williams has to play if Gardner doesn’t. He hasn’t got five yellows or owt has he? Moncur aside from a goal v Sunderland has done nothing.

I’d give Potts another start yes. I thought he was awful last night but at least he tries to get forward.

McGeehan is in front of Mallan at the moment.

MacDonald should be in for Jackson. He’s been ok but is far too limited with the ball at his feet, he’s a miskick (or completely miss the ball) waiting to happen, and rash in the challenge. MacDonald wasn’t great before either but Jackson has shown his limitations in the last few games.

A rest won’t do Davo much harm you’d think but I’m not convinced with Townsend, deserves a go though. Davo has been culpable for a few recently.

Fryers was terrible, but hasn’t played much, not sure whether him or Pearson is the best bet until Cavare and Yiadom are fit.

    Townsend
    McCarthy
    MacDonald
    Lindsay
    Fryers
    Williams
    Potts
    McGeehan
    Hammill
    Barnes
    Bradshaw

Oops I knew I'd done something wrong in midfield. Should have been mallan for moncur.

Townsend looked really good in the friendlies so in my opinion deserves a chance. If he's not good enough he shouldn't be here so the fact he's here means in theory he's good enough and if team selection is on form then Davies should be dropped.

Why do you want Mallan in?

Because he looked really good in the friendlies, we chased him for ages and he was brought in as soon as possible so was obviously wanted. And because the current midfield isn't strong enough which is why we are having to play 5 to compensate

I'm not sure someone from the Scottish Championship is the answer. Hecky doesn't seem to rate him anyway.

To be honest the league they come from doesn't make much difference.

Mallan is Scottish premier, Joe Williams is from a youth side, moncur is from league two, Potts from league one and Barnes from another youth side

Course it does. If you sign eleven players from the same league Athersley Rec are in, all eleven won't be up to Championship football.

They weren't all signed from the same league though we're they. I'd argue that mallan is actually the most experienced and highest league of the lot of them

Not being funny pal but if hecky gave me a reds shirt for Saturday I would at least try and get forward. I'm pretty sure I would be gash though and hauled off in the first 20 minutes

No, but what I am saying is that the level you have come from is where you currently are in your career - regardless of the potential you may have.

Mallan has come from Conference/Conference North standard. Hecky has to get him to Championship standard. Tough ask.

I would say that the level you are joining is where you are in your career.

We'll have to disagree then. See Brad Potts.

A midfielder who while not perfect looks a lot better than some of the cross we've had in the past.

Fact 1: We were on top with Potts in the middle last night
Fact 2: we took him out of the middle and lost the midfield

I'm physically sick of watching the insipid Ugbo, ineffectual Bradshaw, mincing Moncur and p!ss-poor Potts. Surely Brown, Thiam, McGeehan and Mallan could do no worse? I mean, even if the latter four were all sh!te they would still be on a par with the former!

Aye, summat like that for me too, and I'd go Brown for Bradshaw when Jacob's fit.

Yes, a Championship player who has figured highly in most games. Works hard and is still adjusting and developing his young talent.

Yes I'd give Brown a go too if fit and Bird for Williams if we think he needs a rest.
