Was it the stewards that made them take it down ?

    Silly really if it was.

This is something that a lot of us feel strongly about. Maybe the Supporters Trust could express people's displeasure.

That is exactly what I said to Ponty before the game. They weren't doing any harm at all so I don't understand why the stewards got so anal about it. Are we no longer a community club?

The present management of the club (and I'm not talking about Danny here) is trying to dilute and dispel any reference to the clubs and the towns history.
That banner meant a lot to the people in the stands but it was condemned by the management of the club.
Whoever gave permission for that banner to be removed should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves because what ever they call themselves one thing they cannot be identified with is Barnsley Football Club.
    Foooking ****kkers !!!!!!!!

I was in the upper west and didn't see the banners, brilliant though lads!! I suppose the management would see them as 'inflammatory'. They should have a word with themselves and remember what bloody club they work for.

So me absailing from the top of the East stand with my 'save the arctic' banner wouldn't go down well?

The club did nothing for the fans when the strike was on so today's attitude isn't that surprising,

Apparently it was taken down on police orders. They felt it was inflammatory - presumably that means it was offensive to them, the "People United" banner was removed because it "obscured a sponsor" despite it being sited following permission from the stewards. I'm sure Dyson will add more when he's sobered up a bit tomorrow.

Was it not taken down due to it covering up existing 'paid for' advertising?

Seen ur normal flag taken down or moved due to this. Nowt to do with politics.

I had a long chat with the Doyle lads about our 'The People United' flag.

In essence they said they were acting on police orders. I can see why they felt the Orgreave one was inappropriate, don't agree but can see why.

But the fact they just took mine without any communication or discussion was out of order IMHO. Got it back and going to meet Doyles in the next couple of weeks for the fanzine.

That wasn't the reason given to me and I asked if I could put ours there and was told yes.
