This from Wally Downes the Wimbledon Coach: “They [Barnsley] are the best team in the division at the moment,” said Downes. “They recruited well and have got in a foreign manager, they play a different way. “Portsmouth are very functional – they do what they do. They have decent players and are effective. “But this team [Barnsley] are playing well, moving the ball well and confident." All nice to hear, but, of course, he is busy planning our downfall. I don't know if he has as many spreadsheets as Bielsa at Leeds, but this will not be a walk in the Park. How would you set up to stop us on Saturday? What are the weak points? What does a team need to do to frustrate us?
Leave Moore and Woodrow totally unmarked, and put 2 men each on Davies and Lindsay. That's what I would do if I were a Wally.
Unless my memory is totally shot Wally played as a teenager in the last game of the 78-79 promotion season. We both went up. Drew 1-1. Wally went on to play in all four divisions with them.
Not be a walk in the park? We should be thrashing rock bottom. Especially when we want to hopefully be automatically promoted. You're giving a really poor side far too much respect. Obviously we have to be weary of them just like any other opposition. But we really shouldn't be doing anything other than picking up a easy three points, with another clean sheet. They cant park the bus at home like they did in our dull home game with them.
Was he once at the Blades. I know we can just google it these days but l fancy a proper old fashioned conversation... on the internet.
It won't be easy whatever formation we play but I fancy us to get all three points. I'm hoping Woodrow is back to his best.
I agree They'll be scrapping, they'll make it tough for us. Being complacent and expecting an easy win will bite us on the arse. We're not so good that we can just turn up and expect to win
If we do the same as we did to Bradford which is to fight for our right to play our game first fifteen twenty minutes then stamp our authority on the rest of the game I don’t think we’ll have a problem tbh . I’m not sure if Bradford were that bad or we were that good after that tbh but if it’s the latter and it’s part of our game plan and it’s implemented as Stendil wants it I think we’re in for a bagful of points next few games imo. Hopefully our consistency has arrived at last .
Apologies, only just read this. When I saw the title I thought it was about what Jeremy Corbyn saw when he balanced his glasses on the end of his nose. Don't envy him, that would either be Dianne Abbott or Theresa may. Lol...I'll get my coat.
