It's quite a young and inexperienced squad we have. If we get to the quarters then that will be a great achievement. The players need to get some experience of playing at a major tournament. Five games including 3 or 4 wins would set them up nicely for the euros in 2 years. I just hope we don't get hammered by one of the top teams to undermine any success we have until then.
I am confident that they will make it to the quarters. The chances are they will get knocked out at that stage but you never know in tournament football. Much depends on how well Sterling and Kane perform. Rashford has a real chance to perform. Southgate has really impressed me and grown on me. For once he’s selected a team, not just ‘eleven best English players’. I am quietly optimistic. Having said all that - the first game is a potential banana skin and they will have to show maturity and be mentally strong to react to a defeat.
I think they could just surprise us all ,I,m another that has been impressed with Southgate got rid of all the old guard and trying to build a young exciting side. Who knows if we get that bit of luck.
