It's not glamorous, it's not steeped in success, it's not known for its riches, despite new found wealth in overseas investors. It's commonly seen as behind the times, backward. It's parodied. Accents mocked and stereotypes quickly, easily and effectively taken. The area deprived, often bitter, often harsh.

But in spite of all of this it has an ability to connect with people. It has an ability at its best to offer humanity and decency amid the multi millionaires and those who want to be seen doing the right thing, rather than merely doing the right thing. And it seems that honesty can connect with people not from the area and bring out their best too.

When unity occurs, sadly all too fleeting, this club is better than all.

There are many things it does wrong over time, and many of us are quick in our harsh Barnsley spade is a spade candour, to remind the players, owners and anyone connected with it, just that.

But I wouldn't swap this club for any other, or a sniff of vain success and celebrity.

It's legacy is it's integrity and honesty.

And I'm proud that our newer international friends are reminding us of that.

Great post, sums up my feelings over the last 5 decades of support.
I wouldn't swap 'em for a gold pig

I've always loved the motto too.
