You must remember that the referendum propaganda came from both sides.

We even had a lovely little leaflet - from the Tory government - suggesting that we vote leave.

So - we got representations regarding Brexit, just like in a general election.

In a general election you might call each party's manifesto incitements "lies".

I don't like the word "lie". For me a lie needs to have been proved not to be true.

And, as Dusty sang - "Nothing has been proved".

I didn't think anybody listened to him anymore and was flabbergasted when he was quoted on here in whatever context. I always found the view that he was ideologically welded to a totally free labour market and saw the trade unions as an obstruction to this. He was never able to explain away what most regarded as a fundamental flaw to this namely that on a macroeconomic level workers are also consumers and downward movement in wages leads to a downward movement in aggregate demand. Therefore whilst his neo monetarist policies may have some merit in reducing inflation there was never shown to be any mechanism for stimulating economic growth.

I’m sure someone said it would be the easiest trade deal in history...

Was it thought that the mechanism for stimulating economic growth was the trade unions' capacity to maintain higher wages for its members?

There was no mechanism. In essence Minford and his school believed you could price yourself out of a job by asking for higher wages and that you could price yourself back into a job or at least keep the one you had by accepting lower wages. To him the unions were a fly in the ointment because and no surprises here they didn't want to accept lower wages for their members. His whole concept was Flawed and became discredited.

We're not even talking about the trade deal here, only the withdrawal agreement, a Canada plus free trade deal has been offer from early on.

The Leader of the 1922 Committee Sir Graham Brady has confirmed he has received the
required number of letters from Tory MP's expressing a vote of no confidence
in Theresa May's leadership of the party and she will therefore now face a challenge in
the hope that a new PM can be installed from within the party's ranks.if she wins the ballot, her
Leadership cannot be challenged for another 12 months. The vote will be held tonight.

In two years you can have multiple leadership contests, you can have multiple general elections... but its completely undemocratic to have the audacity to ask the people their view once voters have greater insight of the ramifications of being a member of the EU or not.

    National interest? Of course not.

Very few carparts are UK made these days.

Majority are made in over seas sweatshops and imported to the UK to be put together..

And you base that on what exactly?

what do the 2500 component providers do then?

"The automotive industry is a vital part of the UK economy accounting for more than £82 billion turnover and £20.2 billion value added.

With some 186,000 people employed directly in manufacturing and in excess of 856,000 across the wider automotive industry, it accounts for 12.0% of total UK export of goods and invests £3.65 billion each year in automotive R&D.

More than 30 manufacturers build in excess of 70 models of vehicle in the UK supported by 2,500 component providers and some of the world’s most skilled engineers."

I hope she stays where she is as that's the best chance of us staying in the EU....all the alternatives would crash us out to get their own way and that would be a total disaster. I also think none of them want the PM job at the minute because in reality they know whoever takes us out will go down in history as ruining the economy etc....main reason Boris ran away from it when she got the job.

    STRONG AND STABLE o_Oo_Oo_O

just because our sales are diminishing in comparison to somewhere like china does not mean we are any less important, there is enough evidence away from the mainstream media to show that the germans do not want to lose us to tarrifs, these people have the biggest influence in the eu and this is why german industry are not only lobbying the eu but also their own government
