To be fair they’ve done a decent job but they’re in a pretty good situation with all our players except Bradshaw due to most of them having 2 & 3 years left on their contracts & the ones that don’t like Moncur, Fryers, Pinillos haven’t done anything to have any interest. The real test comes next summer if we have a really good season & get up & offers come in for Moore, Potts, Hedges, Thiam, Cavare, Lindsay, Pinnock etc who will have only one year left on their contracts by then
Who says they are? Firstly, the bids recently received might not have been from a business point of view, high enough. You don't sell for any old price. Secondly, they may think they might even get more in January if he's banged a few in. Thirdly, they may offer him another contract because it makes business sense from their point of view - he may thus turn out to be worth more to them in the long term. (btw and for the avoidance of doubt, I'm not saying our owners are just in it for the money)
No I wasn’t suggesting you were criticising the owners but the evidence suggests to me is yes they’re investors but I also believe they are wanting to build the brand in a sustainable and moral way . But all your points are hearsay not at all what I interpret which is they want Tom to stay and others to help build the brand . That’s not to say if an unbelievably generous offer comes in for him they’d sell . And who could blame them?
His value could increase if he has been doing well, very often desperate clubs pay over the odds in january
Then I believe we would keep him until his contract runs out where in the past we would have sold him (ala Winnall)
Let’s hope they renew the contracts of players that Stendel wants to keep well before next summer. This is exactly where we came unstuck with the likes of Hourihane, Winnall etc. PC felt he couldn’t commit to new contracts until promotion was secured and they had proven themselves in the Championship by which time it was too late That’s my take on it anyway
Jury is still out on them. But in the next 10 months or so we might have replica kit out early June, get our main players under new contracts so in the case of Bradshaw for example we don't lose him for nothing like we did Yiadom, and they might strengthen us enough to be away from the championship relegation zone when we get promoted.
I’m the same as you. It’s going to be interesting. If we do well & other clubs are interested in our players & agents are telling them they can get more elsewhere & they refuse new deals with us I wonder what we’ll do & that’s why I think next summers the big test
I would hope that the contracts we offer next summer would be much better than the ones we offered last time. I've got my fingers crossed that this, rather than higher transfer fees, is where the new ownership will really make a difference.
