But I think Melrose Boy (3.15 Newbury) will take an awful lot of beating today. Not an exciting price (6/4 generally) but I make him close to an Evens or shorter chance. It is even possible he could drift for 'BOG' punters if the money comes for the Henderson, King or Pipe representatives. I could write you several pages on this one, but in brief he won by 6 lengths in a Class 3 at Cheltenham last time, yet is able to race at level weights (bar Henderson's, who gives him 6 lbs) and is dropped to Class 4 here. He will stay this two and a half miles, and having been off for three months prior to Cheltenham is almost certainly capable of even better. But they can all lose!

    Getting greedy, Spuggy!

Right then. John Gosden's newcomer CULPABILITY in the 11.40 at Lingfield. $350,000 purchase for Princess Haya (Mrs Sheikh Mohammed) and has US dirt performers on both sides of it's pedigree. Big Johnny G has waited all year to give this one it's debut but turns it out now. He spoke well of it in April and although it has drifted from the bookies' opening cautious show of 8/13, I think a big run is on the cards. It's 5/2 in a few places. This one falls into the more speculative category, whereas I expect Melrose Boy to win at Newbury. I repeat - I am often wrong!
