The team that made me fall in love with our club. A love that's stood the test of time and, despite a number of bleak periods, will continue to do so.:)

Yep, this is the team I started watching anall int'Brewery stand with my Uncle. Used to walk down to the ground on Saturdays from Worsbrough Common. I thought Bettany was my fave player - he played well the team played well.

Bob Earnshaw only one missing from that photograph. Being a teacher in Rotherham, he probably couldn't get the time off.

Agree, it was around this time I started being taken to Oakwell.I liked all the players and being a child was fascinated watching them play. Happy times and memories, they always seemed to play "Hey Jude" at Home games. Plus my favourite song for supporters was "From the Green Green grass of Oakwell,to the Isles of Sicilly". Which reminds me, didn't the pitch used to look brilliant back in those days, small squares like a Chessboard.

Joe Joyce had established himself at right back in that team. Alan Birch took over from Stewart Barraclough.

Hunter, once he brought Birch to thew club during the Winter of 1982, tended to pick Birch rather than Barraclough (who only tended to get the odd game afterwards). Birch scored a fair few more goals than Barraclough, but both left the club during the Summer of 1983.

I had been going regularly for about six years at the time of this team & I look at all the players with a fondness but I would have to say big Eric was my favourite but for the level they were at , they were indeed a very good unit & very entrtaining
