I must have counted up to 10 occasions 2nd half where Adam Davies chooses to lay down on the ball rather than throw it out to the unmarked fullback/winger.

If he was to throw it, it’s then up to 9 professional outfield footballers to keep the ball aslong as possible whilst staying in shape to defend.

After all if you have the ball then they cannot attack.

What he does instead is waste 10-15 seconds every time he gets possession to then boot it up to no one or out of play to allow Fulham to retain possession and build another attack.

Which ones the better option? Which ones actually has the better chance of keeping the ball away from the opposition for a longer period of time?

I think the time wasting second half was due to us being down to 10 men and being under the cosh so letting our players have a breather.

I know you’re not a fan of him but can I point out that our corner that led to our goal was the result of a Davies punt up field.

Apart from their second goal I thought he had a decent game.

Dont you think he is under instruction to do that ?
Our 9 players would not keep the ball.

Like you i ain't a fan of Davies and he definitely needs replacing but it's not like were going to string more than 3 passsea together before giving it away...

Other than poor decision making with time wasting, terrible kicking and a horrific punch into no mans land for their second goal, I agree, he had a decent game.

Why not? Giving the ball back is the worst thing you can do for the sake of 10 seconds.

I didn't understand the time wasting, because I still felt we had a chance to win at 1-1

    Absolutely.

If you’re time wasting and then keeping the bell after then it’s fair enough.

But to time waste only to give the ball away is dreadful.

And what kind of message does it send to the team from our captain?

It sends the message "let's not bother attacking them - let's do what i'm doing and think that all we should be doing is stopping them from having the time to score against us. Plus let's defraud our own paying fans, who've come to see us play our own football and be entertained".

I agree - there's a time and place for wasting time. The public aren't daft. They know when Davies is acting contrary to common wisdom.

Do you happen to know if it was by choice or instruction by any chance?

Unless someone asks Hecky we will never know.

Aye because Hecky, the staff and other players were all remonstrating with him to get up and launch it right?

I agree his kicking wasn’t great (it never is) but one of them led to a goal today so.

Second goal he 100% should’ve done better.

    That’s the problem.

He was wasting time and then giving away possession anyway. Can you not see that’s a problem?

That’s like a player shielding the ball in the corner for 10 seconds and then just kicking it out for a goal kick. Pointless.

    Time waste? Yes.

Give possession away for the sake of it? No.

Meanwhile we’ll all assume it’s his decision and hang draw and quarter him

Do you think Davies was instructed to give the ball back to Fulham?

Why would the manager ever instruct the player to give the ball back to the opposition.

I don’t think for one minute that was the case .
Obviously his kicking is questionable to say the least but that’s been evident from at least last season .
So if that’s the case why is it happening game after game s it maybe Hecky expects his forwards to win at least some of them ? Is it because the plan in training doesn’t come off on the pitch ?
Or is it as you believe that he does it on purpose to give the ppposition the ball time and time again against all the coaches and players instructions ?
