I'd imagine people are still banned from port vale a few seasons back so that will bump our numbers up
‘Whilst not defending any person or persons who simply can’t behave themselves, those stats do not simply state who has the worse behaved fans. There are many different variables in there to consider including Police attitude towards different sets of fans. A good example of this was last time we visited Chesterfield, a chain of poor policing decisions led to some unnecessary confrontations. Considering we had visited the previous season with more fans and little or no reports of trouble from that visit, it was somewhat surprising to be labelled “The Millwall of the North” and see heavy- handed policing at the last visit. Like most right-minded people I wish Our unruly element would disappear, but theses stats don’t tel the whole picture.
I don't know why I've been mentioned in this thread. But let me just provide some observations on Barnsley fans. I've been to lots of football matches - not supporting either team - ie not Barnsley matches. During those matches I've witnessed the hoolie element. My thoughts on Barnsley hoolies compared to others are these: 1) we have a horrible element of away fans that hurl abuse at everything especially their own team. 2) however - comparatively speaking there's not many of them compared to other clubs - but what is evident is that a large percentage (two thirds ?) of these fans, on the face of it, look capable of causing trouble. 3) but do they cause a threat to other supporters - NO. And the reason for this is that a large part of Barnsley fans do not act as ONE UNIT compared to other clubs. There is a lot of nuisance behaviour by Barnsley fans caused by individuals or small groups of 3 or 4 - but there isn't the organised or full scale bad behaviour by hundreds. Full scale - could be described as when an incident occurs then a large part of the crowd immediately join in. 4) therefore compared to other fans - Barnsley arnt really a major problem- and in no way can they be compared to clubs like Millwall where the hoolie element is far more organised and full scale.
