    Interesting that the last 4 winners have gone out at the group stage, although it's simple when you think about it - it's because they've had so little in the way of competitive games.

    For me friendlies should be replaced with some kind of league system.

    You might be correct for Spain and Italy but Brazil won in 2002 and havent been out in the Group Stage since 1966
    I doubt Germany will go out in the group stage this year though we can dream
