Highways agency decided to closed the M1 slip northbound at Dodworth, took me an hour to get to Wakefield, brilliant.

Over an hour and a half back to Harrogate. Normally a 45minute run. Nothing on the matrix signs on the way to Barnsley to say they were doing so or I'd have gone Wakey Rd towards Garforth. Just about summed my night up.

Eh? I know the M1 was shut but it wasn’t a problem going down Higham Lane and then through Barugh Green. Maybe added 5 to ten minutes at the most. Which way did you go?

Yeah, I dropped my mate off at Wakey last night. Ended up going down though barugh green and getting on at Hague.

Was there a diversion route set up? I went through poggy and turned left at hospital.

Would expect nothing else. I was once recently heading back home on the M62 at night and only after I passed the ponty turnoff at J32 did they put a matrix up informing that the A1 south was closed. Brilliant.

Sorry to spoil your rant but the slip road has been closed at night for weeks, the matrix signs DO say so as well EVERY DAY THEY SAY IT !!! Southbound as well as north bound signs saying that the M1 is closed after 8.00 pm , junction 37-38. The diversion is sign posted as well.

If you can get to Harrogate in 45 mins you must be shifting! Or are you talking about the time from Dodworth? I don’t hang around but am never home before 6 after Saturday matches.

It took me nearly an hour and a half to get back to Leeds. M1 Northbound closed as you say, M621 closed and then to top it all off, the A58. I was getting more and more pissed off as I went along.

Sorry to spoil your rant but I don't drive through Barnsley EVERY DAY. I went specifically for the match and had no idea it was going to be shut until I got to just before the sliproad.

It is on the signs every day, on both sides of the motorway, I know this because I travel on that stretch nearly everyday, now just because YOU didn`t see it , that does not mean it wasn`t on. the only people to blame are the ones driving, not the people that have put the diversion in place, the same diversion that has been in place every night for weeks !!

I don't go that way 'every night for weeks!!' so that is a completely useless bit of information. As for 'the only people to blame are the ones driving' - I wasn't the one driving so that absolves me of all blame ;)

Then you have absolutely no reason not to have seen the signs!! you were not even having to watch the traffic.

Do it regular for maintenance all over country .And don't advertise it on. Highway web .Only road signs just before or on electronic ones

Done a bit of digging and I'm led to believe that while it is usually advertised daily (Ive seen it myself recently) it WASNT on the matrix signs that evening for one reason or another

1 hour 45 mins to get back to Headingley. Came off at Haigh exit on way down. Wild goose chase via Birds Edge / Scisset on way back. ******* joke.
