A Welsh International Winger/Striker. Experienced at this level with decent strike rate. Likely to be loaned out again to Championship. I'd be happy if he signed for reds.

Another player linked with us in the summer I would take a look at is Rohan Ince 6' 3" 24y/o defensive midfielder. He currently plays for Brighton but was loaned out to Swindon back end of last season, I assume to get game time having not featured for BHA. Now in the Premier league, I wonder if he might be available for loan/transfer?

Jason Lowe (25y/o), free agent having been parted company with Blackburn Rovers. Former England U21, fullback/defensive midfielder captained Blackburn last year. Surprised he hasn't been snapped up yet.

2x Strikers, Keeper and centre back.

    Thats all

No chance with the first, we don't need another CM, we can do better.

Derby have had a £7million bid rejected for Lawrence so he's out of the question

Too many centre mids so don't need Ince

Lowe is on trial at West Brom

Ryan Shotton or Paul McShane could be available and add steel/experience to the defence.

    Mc Shane would be ideal.

McShane would be perfect alongside Gus.

We were in for him earlier this summer, allegedly.

They're both good calls and theoretically realistic. However, do we know if the club thinks an experienced centre half is a priority? Personally, I think it could be the difference between a rock bottom finish and a comfortable season in mid table. It really is that vital. I'm just not entirely sure the club sees it that way.

Other than in exceptional circumstances like Hammill I don't think we be looking at 'older' players other than maybe on loan. Things change of course but that's how I understand it. I agree with you though.

I'd say averaging three goals against a match, and having some talented but raw defenders who are clearly in need of guidance counts as reasonably exceptional.
