Not seen a thread on this. probably the best one I've watched for a very long time. Simon Yates great win today. Any of the top six GC could win it.
Only started watching it yesterday, 2 great stages- top drama when you get to the mountains, flat stages is like watching a game of basketball, might as well just watch the last 10 minutes!
Too right. Been thinking the same. Miller commentating gets on my nerves, fawns over foreign stars and you get the impression it would kill him to say something nice about brits. Have to say of Froome was here it would have been a formality
looks like Alaphilippe is starting to crack after today's stage, think we will see the big favourites coming good in the mountains this coming week.
I'm wondering whether, after some previous misfortune, Kruijswijk will finally deliver on his promise. He's looked largely comfortable and is surrounded by a decent team. That said, Thomas seemed to have an unremarkable climb yesterday yet somehow managed to strengthen his position in the standings. I think he's looking quite good, despite Saturday's slight misfire. Pinot has a history of being inconsistent.
Allaphillipe's time trial was more dodgy-looking than his climb on Saturday, which still looked almost effortless. He did however look lacking yesterday in the last 1km
It’s an incredible race, probably the most exciting I can remember since 2003 or 2006. Expected Alaphilippe to blow up & although he’s the strongest right now I expect Pinot to fade a bit in the big stages next Thursday, Friday & Saturday. I’d also expect Buchmann to fade a bit. My money’s on Kruijswijk, tends to get stronger in the last week, does well at altitude & has two bang in form team mates in Bennett & De Plus. I’d go Kruijswijk, Thomas, Pinot, Bernal, Landa as my top 5 in that order.
I think Geraint Thomas was happy to go back to being a domestique - he enjoyed his win, but he's not one for the limelight.
