Both felt like we were playing against 12 men, thanks to incompetent referees. Grinding out wins when not at your best is a sign of a good team, and they've dug deep in both games to earn scrappy 1-0 wins. Well done lads. Pinnock was my MOTM today, with Mowett a close 2nd. We had a couple having off days in there too but the team overall got the job done, and that deserves credit, IMO.
2 wins withart Dougall anall, well done to McGeehan who seems to be improving since the Luton Game, still pissed abart wi a free kick mindst that should have gone into the box.
It wasn't pretty today, in fact it was downright ugly at times but a win is a win. The ref, as seems to be normal, was abject today but I think he was poor for both sides.
McGeehan put in a few tasty tackles late on, but otherwise what did he do? The ball is like a hot potato to him - he's got to get rid of it - backwards usually - immediately. He tried a long ball forward which was tosh. He never runs forward with the ball, I suspect he's never gone past an opponent in his life. I want him to do summat - as with them all. I wish them the best. I struggle with this chap though. I wish he'd crunch tackle from kick off. Then I'd like him!
Like you say you struggle with him, but from what he was showing us a month ago and before, the lad has improved. Do yer wishing a bit harder.
Pinnock man of the match? I thought he was all over with his passing first half. He put us in danger so many times. He did win his fair share in the air though. Are the referees actually getting worse? These last 2 have been absolute idiots.
Scrappy game, seemed fairly even to me but I thought we were better than last week and we've put a stop to the "run" of two defeats. We had a lot of the ball, but our passing was loose a lot of the time. Winning scrappily is a great habit to have. Chatting in thr car park afterwards, I compared it to our last promotion season, during the run in, when played Peterborough at home on a Tuesday night. We weren't great, they played for 50 minutes with 10 men, and nothing we tried really came off. And then George Williams scored a last minute winner that really ought to have been saved. That win, and three points, basically got us in the play offs. Sometimes the value of the win isn't seen until later, these two scrappy 1-0 home wins could be greatly significant over the season.
That's how I saw us today mate. Plenty of effort, but sloppy. Thought we had 3 decent chances just before half time through Thiam, Moore and Potts and we had loads of possession in the 2nd half but lacked quality.
